Pfft go and eat any of the gluten free versions of regular food and get back to me. Some of it is fucking horrendous.

My recommendation? Make a vegetarian cognac pasta with vegetarian bacon and tell me how you managed to make it yum lol
Just discovered "Well & Good" cheesy mac mushroom pasta. It's going to become a favourite. Really tasty , vegan & g/f. Might do something for your vegan bacon. Geting some different stuff from the Gluten Free Shop. It makes a hole in our food budget but it also adds to well being so worth the price just to feel normal in my book

I see where you are coming from- didn't mean to imply I only eat pizza, icecream & chocolate. the following was our g/f menu for this week :
Monday - Roast chcken with a selection of roasted winter vegetables & g/f gravy + apple crumble & cream
Tuesday - Nacho mince + banana, & manderin with yoghurt
Wednesday - Fresh hoki, lightly crumbrd & served with a mixed green salad, tomatoes & boiled potatoes Follwed by a scoop if rum & raisin icecream
Thursday - Beef Strog + Tinned peaches & yoghurt
Friday - it's getting toward the weekend so I'm winding down a bit - Grilled bacon , egg & mushrooms. Repaet desert of peaches & yoghurt
Tonight it's WARRIOR time : Curried chicken & rice with a few mixed frozen veg thrown in. Followed by more rum & raisin icrecrem & a couple of glasses of cider if you don't mind - Cheers
Sunday - Probably common old sausages & mash with assorted leftover veges. Depending on Sat's result - might even be roast beef - definately NOT a pizza . Here's to a win for the Wahs eh Mr F White ;)
Fucking love it

The only thing I want to chip in is that is important to have good relationships in your life. Honour your mother and Father even if they have faults and get on well with your sisters and brothers even if they offended you ten years ago in a family drama. Do all those things and they will be there for you in a mental health situation and support you through it. Family and firends are very important when you are struggling. The worst thing that can happen is for you to hit rock bottom and be isolated when it happens.
If you are isolated but healthy right now be aware there can be insidious impacts of this that can lead to a stress meltdown so in all it helps to work on forgiveness and relationships. Where possible as I know this can be hard sometimes.

'I need to harden up and get on with it': Ivan Cleary opens up on battle with mental health

October 15, 2024 - 10.38am

Four-time NRL premiership coach Ivan Cleary has opened up about his lengthy battle with mental health.
The 53-year-old lifts the lid on his ongoing fight in a new autobiography, where he details his issues with depression.
Cleary has cemented his named as one of rugby league's most successful coaches, having led Penrith to the last four titles.

But along the way he's been hiding a health battle that many men remain quiet about.

"I've been lucky enough to win four premierships in the last four years, but it took 26 years to achieve that as a player and a coach... there are a lot of downs as well in a long career," Cleary told Nine's Today.
Penrith coach Ivan Cleary speaks to Today.

"Probably in 2019 when I first went back to Panthers I definitely knew I was struggling. I'd had some previous instances that I probably didn't really realise. I suppose over time you work it out.
"Struggling to get out of bed, or not wanting to. Other things like becoming emotional for no real reason... or there obviously are reasons there.
"I was, like many men, I was holding it all in, not discussing it. I started by talking to my wife - she made it very clear she was disappointed I wasn't opening up.
"I thought I didn't want to burden her, or that people are doing it harder than me, I need to harden up and get on with it.
"It's been a long journey, but something I wanted to share because it's not all beer and skittles."

Mental health is one of the biggest and most common struggles for men in Australia.
Cleary hopes by speaking about his own battle he can encourage others to seek help.
"A lot of men everywhere are feeling pressure. It might just be to make ends meet each week," he said.
"Everyone is talking about the cost of living, and if you are providing for a family you are always under pressure in many respects.
"I saw the opportunity to try normalise it and talk about it more."

I don't do social media much at all. Never post content and this forum is probably the place I frequent the most online since you can have a decent league conversation. But just in the last few months after years of resisting I'm now random scrolling on the social media platforms and find it's wasting so much of my time. And it's so repetitive. There was this month of stupid "I met my younger self for coffee" posts and in the last two weeks everyone seems to want to produce an AI action figure of themselves. I'm going to try and reduce my time on it now and do some more stimulating stuff.

Not having a personal instagram, fb, or TikTok account is the best thing ever.

Just avoid them all together if you're looking for anything more than a bit of a laugh.

Social media platforms are a sure fire way to lower your IQ and up your rage.

Hell, I'm on YouTube for a silly amount of time a day (keeps me up to date with gaming trends.. etc)

I avoid the comment sections, like the plague.

As people have mentioned, having a project on the go is fantastic. They increase your knowledge, get you engaged with something construction and put you in a no obligation positive feedback loop.

Stay safe legends.

Unfortunately a massive part of a lot of businesses is content creation and social media marketing.

Doesn't mean that you, as a consumer, have to engage with it.

Edit: what I should have said was that these are two different discussions.
My point was the mental drain that results in engaging with the typical social media user on certain platforms.

It's not worth it, unless you're in for a laugh.

Any relevant information will be able to be accessed through better thought out studies as opposed to the, more times than not, incoherent rambling of some random on Twitter/X.

I haven't had the social media apps for about 10 years. But I was still stuck watching YT videos and coming on here a lot. It's a constant struggle as someone who has always had addiction issues to win the battle with instant dopamine sitting at your fingertips.

Only trick I have found that works for putting the phone down and doing something more constructive. I have my phone set to greyscale 90% of the time unless I need colour for whatever reason.

For Android:
- Go into settings app
- Type in Colour Correction
- Select the one that is Others/Colour Correction shortcut
- Select Greyscale
- In the same window select Colour correction shortcut
- Select Tap accessibility button
- Select the settings cog at the end of Tap accessibility button and select Navigation bar.

You should now have a small man on the bottom right of your screen. Tapping this will toggle Greyscale.

I've attached some screenshots the hopefully help with the steps above if you can't figure it out.

If you have a phone addiction this will not be easy and will take time to ween yourself off. It's honestly on par with fixing other addictions I've had in the past with substances. But if you are serious about wanting to use your phone less this is the best option I have found out of everything i've tried.

Grab a copy of the book Stolen Focus if you want to read a bit more about how cooked Social Media/or excessive screen use is for us.

That wasn't aimed at you either @FormerlyJamesW . Just a general comment for anyone that wants help or to give it a try and see if it's something that works for them.

Nah, you're good.

I fully agree with what you said. In fact, there's an entire academic focus around what you're saying. It's called 'Design'.

One of the reasons why I'll never take my kids to an Arcade; they're basically grooming establishments for casinos. Bright and flashing lights attract, keep and change our attention spans to prioritise them over things that don't.

It's kinda messed up.
