2. Usually not a viable option when they're fleeing bombs and death squads
3. Well it used to be branded as a melting pot, land of the free, bring your poor huddled masses etc

Why is Texas the best?

Because of American exceptionalism? Because capitalism is the ultimate model that others should follow? It makes it the land of opportunity?

Posters in here seem to portray it as a hell hole!

1 - fair point. there’s other countries, they dont have to go to the US. And the US is allowing 7,500 refugees in 2026 - the lowest in history!
2 - traitors! If they were in the warriors and Payne Haas was charging at them, they would do a Reece Walsh.
3 - the people have voted. Things change and you have to respect the will of the people.
4 - American dream - Trumps way at the moment!

Yes Inruin and I don't blame you for not responding to anything I post. Last time iirc was when I hinted that the contract for the Cook Strait/Wellington ocean going salvage tug was in jeopardy. Your response was something like " That wouldn't happen and the government has previously renewed the contract and they have no reason to cancel it now ".Remember?? Bingo. Next day Bishop announced the cancelation as of late February 2026.
Sorry to open up old wounds but It's necessary for others context.

No matter how much a couple of these posters want to try muddy the waters it's very clear they're prejudiced. Don't know why they're so terrified to admit they may be a little racist.

For context to this thread my old man was technically an illegal immigrant to nz (believe he got residency through some amnesty program in the early 90s ). Been working here for 30+years and never received a single cent from the government until his pension kicked in a few years back.
So it is amusing to me to see posters (not just on here) yelling about immigrants and looking at them as subhuman all the while trying to cover their stance by saying it's only illegals their against and defending the tactics used by ICE etc.
They like to paint us as liberals for speaking out against this but what Trump is doing is encouraging the othering of anyone that's not white. I used to always feel proud of how accepting nz is and our race relations internally compared to other western countries but I've seen first hand the decline (while I was growing up in the early 90s)of racism to where we were in a pretty healthy place to the sudden increase ever since Trump came around and ran on fear politics.
The amount of racist comments in online comments I read in sometimes completely random videos has skyrocketed in the last few years.

Ye trump is fcked, I fell for his patriotic, Christian act but don’t be fooled.
I think this whole ICE thing is the first step of something pretty bad, one of many.
Lucky they have the second amendment. I feel like shit like this is gonna start happening everywhere soon tho.
As for immigrants I think there’s an agenda behind this, dont know what.
The west is being over run whether you like it or not, mostly by Muslim culture.

Can't remotely agree with your last two sentences but good on you for changing your mind about Trump. Maybe the same critical thinking will help on your beliefs, particularly where you get your reading material
