I don't know if NZ is ready to vote for a youngish Chinese nzer.
That would be a shame. I know her family. She was born here and educated here. A kiwi with one Chinese parent.

Unlike all those other grifters in Wellington, she’s actually the only professional candidate, found after an executive search

Not just another career public purse bureaucrat

Hoping she gets some decent airtime!

I voted Teal last time but I've hardly seen much from them this time. Just a couple of interviews a while back. I do like her though. Her thoughts on Winnie, luxon and seyless was great.

Those on the right here, can you enlighten me on what this coalition has done to make NZ a better place to be?
Real world issues like eduction has improved 1000% (measurable as well). Hospitals are out of the media and anecdotally are catching up after falling apart at the scenes. Law and order is visibly better with the stats to back it up. Roads aren’t falling apart with 3rd world potholes everywhere anymore.

Education, health, law and order and transport are core govt stuff I think.

But im sure some will vote for feel good stuff like, what was it, ending child poverty, fixing mental health, fixing housing with a million more state houses or possibly banning oils and gas exploration (while we run out of oil and gas).

I am left leaning but I have voted for Greens, Labour, TOP and National before.

What you have stated would be music to left leaning voters. Less crime, better education, better transport and health. However, why are nationals rating down so much. It can only be down because right leaning voters are also against them.

What you have stated are all anecdotal from your perspective. If you could provide me with some websites or at least stats from the above that would be appreciated. Here are my anecdotes, I am in education, and I have only seen an upheaval in high school education, a waste of professional development resources on structured literacy. Health, there are still huge waiting lines, nurses that were promised jobs that don't have any because of health funding cuts, ram raids have turned into people stealing petrol, and I've seen potholes in some main big streets.

Hasnt everything been in decline for the last 25 years? Education results certainly have been

It certainly has, but wizard said it's up so I would like to see stats.

Each government has looked at education and thought, I'll change the curriculum, I'll give teachers more PD etc etc but here is the crux. Daycare costs so much, so parents HAVE to work. While kids back in the day were free range a lot more. There was always one parent at home to instil family values and/or help them with education. Parents these days mean well but are either poor/time poor or both.

Teachers have more special needs kids and many ADHD and/or neuro divergent kids. When I was growing up, there was one in the whole school, now there is 2-5 in every class.

Changing the curriculum and/or giving more PD on structured literacy makes no difference. But both sides think they have this quick fix. Change NCEA...scrap NCEA.... Give me a break....

Education is suffering the same way as health. Shutting specialist facilities, i.e. special needs classes and mental health asylums, has worsened the situation for everyone.

As for daycare, its time to go free market. Its far cheaper, easier and fair to do family income tax pooling, along with direct child care payments. 10k pa, per kid, sliding scale after 4. No one has the stomach for this sort of drastic reorganisation of the economy though.

That’s not acknowledging there will always be a bottom quintile, and percentage of that needs to be managed, now.
No matter how educated or healthy a country is there will always be those that need help. If society is educated and healthy, then there will be more money to help those that really need it. Because we either make more money or we've saved more money or both.

Sex education is one example. There are some countries that look like their birth rate has gone down, but in reality, the teen pregnancy rate has gone down and couples are having children later in life. This means there is a lag/delay in the birth rate but after 8-10 years it will be normal again.
