They could be influential in the balance of power as the teal alternative, just have to normalize cat pies.I would love to see Opportunity party be more visible.

Haha, not sure as a country we are ready for Teals. Hasn't worked out too well across the ditchThey could be influential in the balance of power as the teal alternative, just have to normalize cat pies.
Greens smashed it in UK thoughHaha, not sure as a country we are ready for Teals. Hasn't worked out too well across the ditch
Same here. A strong Opportunity could be a power broker, taking away that leverage that only Winston holds.I would love to see Opportunity party be more visible.
I don't know if NZ is ready to vote for a youngish Chinese nzer.Same here. A strong Opportunity could be a power broker, taking away that leverage that only Winston holds.
They are a pragmatic green party. Greens without all the baggage
That would be a shame. I know her family. She was born here and educated here. A kiwi with one Chinese parent.I don't know if NZ is ready to vote for a youngish Chinese nzer.
In Dunedin they voted for councillor B Ong, who seems to be either an avant-garde performance artist, a CCP spy, or a severely autistic fantasist, no one's sure. So it can be done.I don't know if NZ is ready to vote for a youngish Chinese nzer.
True but to be honest the UK is fucked both politically and economically. Doesn't have a lot going for it other than the Royals and their exchange rate V us.Greens smashed it in UK though
Real world issues like eduction has improved 1000% (measurable as well). Hospitals are out of the media and anecdotally are catching up after falling apart at the scenes. Law and order is visibly better with the stats to back it up. Roads arenβt falling apart with 3rd world potholes everywhere anymore. Those on the right here, can you enlighten me on what this coalition has done to make NZ a better place to be?
I am left leaning but I have voted for Greens, Labour, TOP and National before.Real world issues like eduction has improved 1000% (measurable as well). Education, health, law and order and transport are core govt stuff I think.
But im sure some will vote for feel good stuff like, what was it, ending child poverty, fixing mental health, fixing housing with a million more state houses or possibly banning oils and gas exploration (while we run out of oil and gas).
Hasnt everything been in decline for the last 25 years? Education results certainly have beenI am in education, and I have only seen an upheaval in high school education, a waste of professional development resources on structured literacy. Health, there are still huge waiting lines, nurses that were promised jobs that don't have any because of health funding cuts, ram raids have turned into people stealing petrol, and I've seen potholes in some main big streets.
It certainly has, but wizard said it's up so I would like to see stats.Hasnt everything been in decline for the last 25 years? Education results certainly have been
Education is suffering the same way as health. Shutting specialist facilities, i.e. special needs classes and mental health asylums, has worsened the situation for everyone. It certainly has, but wizard said it's up so I would like to see stats.
Each government has looked at education and thought, I'll change the curriculum, I'll give teachers more PD etc etc but here is the crux. Daycare costs so much, so parents HAVE to work. While kids back in the day were free range a lot more. There was always one parent at home to instil family values and/or help them with education. Parents these days mean well but are either poor/time poor or both.
Teachers have more special needs kids and many ADHD and/or neuro divergent kids. When I was growing up, there was one in the whole school, now there is 2-5 in every class.
Changing the curriculum and/or giving more PD on structured literacy makes no difference. But both sides think they have this quick fix. Change NCEA...scrap NCEA.... Give me a break....
Education and health need to go hand in hand and also promoted early. The more educated and the healthier the population, then it takes burden off the country in the long term.Education is suffering the same way as health. Thatβs not acknowledging there will always be a bottom quintile, and percentage of that needs to be managed, now.Education and health need to go hand in hand and also promoted early. The more educated and the healthier the population, then it takes burden off the country in the long term.
No matter how educated or healthy a country is there will always be those that need help. If society is educated and healthy, then there will be more money to help those that really need it. Because we either make more money or we've saved more money or both.Thatβs not acknowledging there will always be a bottom quintile, and percentage of that needs to be managed, now.
