I think youβll find that stance is more accurately described as nationalistYes it was. Like power generation and supply, I'm socialist enough to believe critical infrastructure should have remained in State hands even if unprofitable or inefficient. The social cost is much worse in private hands due to the profit motive.
The majority of the NZ public would have no problem paying for infrastructure as above if they knew it was in their best interest.
The problem arises when politicians make decisions that aren't in the interests of the voters. My socialist roots coming out lol
Hence the cycle of Govt changes.
