One thing I don’t like about democracy is that there’s always a group who don’t care who gets hurt provided the economy goes downhill enough that there’s a change in government…. provided, of course, they aren’t hurt too much themselves.
I think I interact with a couple of that group on here......

I'm sure that the owners of the 2700 businesses that have gone broke in the last 12 months will be bouyed by your optimisn.
The positive upturn in the data coming through at the moment means that soon we will be going well again and no more businesses shutting. That’s something to be positive about!

We’ve had 5 years of business stress since Covid started and I’m ready for a rock star economy again. All these businesses going bust now have never recovered from COVID times.

5 long hard years! Bring on the good times!

Good luck with your optimism and I really hope you are right. My point was that a lot of people don't share your thoughts regardless of what you or the Coalition spin

If you had have said “a lot” or “many” you might be more accurate but “all” is just disinformation
Word police? Do we need a lawyer to approve our posts now 🤣

In any case, it’s amazing how the lefties loved the openly anti business, shut down industry, smash businesses with cost and taxes govt but now cry crocodile tears when anti business policies during a once in a century economic shock plays out in the real economy.

Trickle down doesn’t work anyway, who cares about rich business owners as I’ve heard many times on these pages…

Disclaimer: not all failed business would be affected by the same issues. Tough economic times weed out inferior businesses and some of these may have failed anyway. Some businesses may have been undercapitalised, some businesses may have had idiots running them. These are the writers personal opinion based on his experience and no fact will be supplied.. Decisions of the current govt could have contributed to some business’s failing. If you read this far, your obviously bored, so I will entertain you by saying I have an electric vehicle and a business so I might stand for the Greens next election and show them the sustainable pro business way…

Pretty much all corporates are saying things are improving now, obviously going to be areas that are much slower to turn like infrastructure, however last couple of months have generally picked up. Really good news.

Sectors related to agriculture are doing OK from what I have seen/heard .Xmas is always a boost for retail. The first Q of 26 will be the telling time IMO.

They’re an indication of the broader economy obviously. It’s all on the back of consumer activity. Appreciate this doesn’t fit your rear view mirror biased as fuck narrative.
I think I have mentioned in the past that a mate delivers brand new trucks and this year has been very quiet
Recently it's picked up a little only due to a Waikato based stock feed company who are doing well again.

Yes & that makes total sense - the economy needs to utilise spare capacity first before investing in new infrastructure like trucks. But geez that could be another 12-18 months away, will def still be tough out there for many for a while longer but at least things are picking up from cyclical lows.

Very interesting too was some data from builderscrack that came via email saying their biggest shift was Christchurch and Waikato. Auckland is dwindling behind them and Wellington with Bay of Plenty fifth
