I must admit I'm starting to have doubts though, they've been weirdly on our side since the Melbourne game, even Kasey Badger in the bunker made all the right calls in our favour. … or hammer the stoned and drugged drivers and get them off the roads. More drink driving checkpoints than speed cameras would target the actual problem.
Isn’t it better to solve the solve rather than a fatalistic approach of saying we accept twats, on the road but when they hit you, make it slower?
And then there’s the issue that stoned and drunk idiots are usually the ones that won’t stick to the lower speed limits anyway…
That's the solution for this part of the road toll. Smart cars with biometric scanners to read blood alcohol and drug levels will solve it, but in the meantime we could spend more on checkpoints etc. That might cost more than we were losing with lowered speeds though.
Now what are going to do about inattention? The Neuralink brain scanner car is coming, we'll all have to get chipped, but I can't see what could go wrong.

Oddly I’m usually concentrating when the warning pops up but when I weave all across the road, posting on this forum while driving, it says nothing

It's always someone else's fault.... the last government spent the first three years blaming the previous National govt. then 2 1/2 years blaming COVID and 6 months blaming Jacinda.
Politics 101.... always blame someone else for the bad and always take credit for the good (even if it's actually caused by someone else). Pissed me off when National MP's and Ministers at the re-opening of the state highway through the Coromandel when the work was 95% completed by the previous government/NZTA.
