Well depends on what you think is an MP’s role in regards to their constituents?

I have personally approached MP’s over issues when the system doesn’t respond and it is their job to act on your behalf.

Quotes:

Seems to be a valid reason for an MP to ask some questions in a democracy.

Seymour’s letter accused police of inappropriate practices: It said Polkinghorne had been left by police unshowered, hungry, thirsty, distressed, alone and “trapped” inside a locked police car for 15 minutes on the day of his wife’s death. He also alleged police did not inform the doctor of his legal rights. The Epsom MP also criticised police for contacting Polkinghorne’s private psychologist to ask for his diagnosis. He criticising police for denying family access to Hanna’s toxicology and autopsy results

Honestly seems some of these things should be looked into as even prisoners have rights and they are damning on police if true.

This shouldn’t even have been made public (unless it’s a media hit job). Real media would find out if those issues bought up were valid and what was the outcome because the allegations are more serious than an MP getting involved.

No, it should be on a greatest needs basis and to address any inequities in health outcomes we need to look at some of the underlying issues causing it. This is where some good statistical analysis would be worthwhile. At a guess I would say some of the causes are access to healthcare for people living in rural/remote areas. A lack of education. Lower socio economic group over represented in the worse outcomes - how do we lift incomes across the board and reduce healthcare costs for this particular group as well as improving dietary intake. Incidentally this is where I think Seymour may have got it wrong with school lunches. I get the need for cost control but this particular group we can easily target with healthy meals and know it's being received by them.

I’m all for free healthy meals for those that need it, did you see principals the other day buying pies and pizza for the children? The one mother was complaining about the food they received, they asked her if she couldn’t feed her kids and she could but expected the school to do it to save her money, that’s cray-cray.

The MP I talked to over my issue was a Labour mp. They checked with a govt department in a similar way. Was that fascism as well or is that different?

I just think it is an odd thing to associate his name and brand with. It was clear the popo had question marks and I personally would have given it a swerve if I was Seymour

Having said that, and as guilty as Polky was, he was found not guilty, so it’s not a biggie. Just an oddity
