Especially the fat onesThat argument will probably fall on deaf ears though. Most people shove absolute rubbish into their mouths 24/7 and so they feel personally attacked when it gets pointed out.

Doesn't feeding them plastic slop defeat the purpose of getting nutrients into kids brains so they can get out of the poverty cycle? We'll end up with another generation of drug-addled morons.seems logical but counterintuitively:
In a situation with an over abundance of food availability and growing obesity problems, imagine the obesity levels if we had nutritionally optimal food!
When I started eating healthier as I got older, all those nutritious vegetables, vitamens and minerals went straight to my stomach. I had to switch in some maccas to balance it out as a weight control tool![]()
Wrong thread dickheadIncredible, fuck what a game!
My understanding is visiting pleasure boats are taken out of the water when they arrive in NZ for hull inspection and cleaning. Costs a few grand but our coastal waters need protection. The new regulations have been added since the additional cruise ships are visiting here.
The problem has always been here with cargo ships now having to be inspected also.
The problem should have been considered years ago.
We are playing catch up
I presume pleasure vessels are treated the same as commercial ships. My understanding is visiting pleasure boats are taken out of the water when they arrive in NZ for hull inspection and cleaning. Costs a few grand but our coastal waters need protection.
Just a random though, is there some sort of massive car wash type machine that every cruise ship/ container ship can sail through that scrubbed and decontaminated the hull rather?I presume pleasure vessels are treated the same as commercial ships.
Several of my clients are registered to do bio-security hull inspections & cleaning.
This is done with both divers & CCTV equipment under very strict DOC regulations.
This is obviously expensive but these Cruise ship are carrying hundreds of passengers paying big money.
They are always complaining about the added costs but our shores need protecting.
No is the simple answerJust a random though, is there some sort of massive car wash type machine that every cruise ship/ container ship can sail through that scrubbed and decontaminated the hull rather?
The hulls are cleaned by various methods.Just a random though, is there some sort of massive car wash type machine that every cruise ship/ container ship can sail through that scrubbed and decontaminated the hull rather?
And the banks wont drop the rates after 0.50 reduction because they had already priced in a 0.75 reduction.Better than expected unemployment figures means most bank economists are now picking an OCR rate reduction of 0.50% instead of 0.75% later this month.

Great economic management getting inflation under control AND keeping more people in jobs AND giving people tax relief!Better than expected unemployment figures means most bank economists are now picking an OCR rate reduction of 0.50% instead of 0.75% later this month.

TBH, I think a lot of people would actually be hoping for a larger drop in interest rates. Although the benefit of them will take at least six months to really make an impact as those who just re-fixed recently get the benefits of the rates reduction.Great economic management getting inflation under control AND keeping more people in jobs AND giving people tax relief!

The reserve bank and government are trying for a soft landing, a little longer recovery, with less job losses and slow predictable interest rate changes.TBH, I think a lot of people would actually be hoping for a larger drop in interest rates. The reason why the RBNZ is considering large cuts is because, compared to other countries, they royally stuffed up by going up to fast and then letting the interest rates stay up for too long. They totally missed out on a "soft landing" by pushing the economy into recession. Other central banks have achieved a "soft landing" by raising interest rates just enough and slowly enough to reduce inflation without causing a recession. The reserve bank and government are trying for a soft landing, a little longer recovery, with less job losses and slow predictable interest rate changes.
Interest rates will trend downwards. A massive 0.75 jump is extreme and more for sudden shocks (or the reserve bank stuffing up big time).
The ‘path of least regrets’ was a term used to basically say your not going to take any risk, make judgement decision and use your skill and experience to navigate whats before you but instead just take the safest no risk, blunt options. The reason why the RBNZ is considering large cuts is because, compared to other countries, they royally stuffed up by going up to fast and then letting the interest rates stay up for too long. But GrantR did "reward" Orr by extending his contract.... dumb, just dumb!!!!
Add in the EU deal which kicked off earlier this year (Labour signed this up) and the recent free trade deals with the UAE and the Gulf Co-operation Council which should see us growing the 'pie' and things are starting to look a little rosier than they have been.Great economic management getting inflation under control AND keeping more people in jobs AND giving people tax relief!

You'd have thought, that when they saw other central banks weren't going so big, so quickly in terms of rates increases that they would have slowed the increases down but instead they kept blindly following the "data" without considering the consequences. And GrantR was there championing the increases because it would finally bring the rapid increases in house values down. Yet, other countries which also had experienced huge jumps in property values also saw them fall by orchestrating a "soft landing". Too much focus on the housing market and not enough consideration about the impact of the wider economy in my opinion. The ‘path of least regrets’ was a term used to basically say your not going to take any risk, make judgement decision and use your skill and experience to navigate whats before you but instead just take the safest no risk, blunt options.
Very conservative, rear facing, data based solution that missed what was happening in real time.
Hindsight was shown it to be a mistake as other countries have been more proactive and ahead of the curve.
Was this a similar economic response to the no risk lockdown ones?
