Is all the food sourced from overseas or will 95% of the money spent, stay in NZ with just the profits going offshore?Buying from overseas companies is just shipping the money offshore. It's a bad decision.

Your assumptions and math have the same level of accuracyIs all the food sourced from overseas or will 95% of the money spent, stay in NZ with just the profits going offshore?
Thanks for correcting me with the facts mateYour assumptions and math have the same level of accuracy
It will all be sources offshore or from other shit multinationals like BidVest. Is all the food sourced from overseas or will 95% of the money spent, stay in NZ with just the profits going offshore?
Isn’t that how globalisation should work?It will all be sources offshore or from other shit multinationals like BidVest.
Assumption there is globalization is good. Who is it good for?Isn’t that how globalisation should work?
seems logical but counterintuitively:Assumption there is globalization is good. Who is it good for?
Here's a trick they dont want you to know, eating locally actually doesnt matter, what does matter is freshness. As meat and vegetables lose incredible amounts of nutritional value every day past harvest. So while dog shit slop is economically "cheaper", its not when measured against nutritional content.
Most produce loses 30 percent of nutrients three days after harvest
A few Saturdays ago, I was lucky enough to spend the morning loading up on fresh farmers market produce and then do nothing but cook and eat it with loved ones all afternoon. And, I don’t wan…www.chicagotribune.com
Just tax them more....20% drop in cruise ships to NZ.
As the articles says weve become greedy and complacent.
Whacking on expensive visitor levy’s, turning ships already here away, getting our settings wrong.
We’re now the most expensive regions for cruise liners to visit in the world and they are looking elsewhere.
Cruising for disaster: High costs have liners bypassing New Zealand
Cruise lines warn of job losses as NZ becomes too expensive.www.nzherald.co.nz
There isn’t a link between high net worth cruise ship passengers and high net worth taxpayers is there?Just tax them more....
As I understand a lot of the costs comes from hull cleaning for biosecurity for invasive pests/organisms.There isn’t a link between high net worth cruise ship passengers and high net worth taxpayers is there?
Can’t be…
That’s part of it. Also ships were paying to do it, get here and our authorities told them the job wasn’t good enough and sent them away mid cruise. Cruise killing move that one…As I understand a lot of the costs comes from hull cleaning for biosecurity for invasive pests/organisms.
The same people complaining about the extra costs would be the same people complaining if our harbours and other waterways were clogged with these pests etc.
Biosecurity and H & S are a very important factor for our tourism industry. That’s part of it. Also ships were paying to do it, get here and our authorities told them the job wasn’t good enough and sent them away mid cruise. Cruise killing move that one…
While already a high cost country with good GST income, we just whacked a huge tourist levy on….
Also our 5th highest minimum wages in the world makes living here and visiting expensive. Then add in our extreme H&S rules + the White Island event and the visitors that come here can’t afford to do much!
This is mirrored in air visitor travel still below covid levels despite the rest of the world back to normal.
Greed and gold plated standards that aren’t worth the cost.
10,000 jobs are supported by those cruise ships in NZ.Biosecurity and H & S are a very important factor for our tourism industry.
If they aren't strictly adhered to you will lose out on tourism home and abroad.
If Shipping companies are skimping on the regulations they don't deserve to be able to berth here.
Majority of them are following the rules.
Unfortunately rules are rules.10,000 jobs are supported by those cruise ships in NZ.
Just got to strike a balance between regulations and not killing the golden goose, which appears to be happening based on the numbers…
There was a review on child seat laws in the US. Each state has different laws so they could evaluate how effective they were.Unfortunately rules are rules.
Would you be okay with people short cutting things like WOFs.??
Hopefully not
I personally don't want our waterways and harbours clogged with weeds and pests. There was a review on child seat laws in the US. Each state has different laws so they could evaluate how effective they were.
It found states with strict child’s eat laws requiring them up to the age of 7, resulted in families stopping at 2 children because the inconvenience was a deterrent to bigger families.
The results were that child seats saved up to 60 lives per year. But the opportunity costs was 8,000 less children born in the strictest ‘safest’ states.
Sometimes you can be so safe the cost is more than the benefits.
I believe we’re reducing the frequency of WOF testing and Australia does even require them.
Haha WOFs are dumb as dogshit and its hilarious that kiwis still think the protection racket is necessary.Unfortunately rules are rules.
Would you be okay with people short cutting things like WOFs.??
So youre telling me that bio security isnt workingI personally don't want our waterways and harbours clogged with weeds and pests.
Ffs they are bad enough already.
Have a good look around the beaches of our BOP and see how many have water quality warnings.
