Nationalising the O&G industry was the smartest move they ever made since old Harald Bluetooth was in charge.
It’s not nationalised. It’s heavily state controlled via a 70% stake. Their spirits/alcohol industry is fully nationalised.
Slightly left of centre but if you go there, you'll understand why. Not too many sitcoms on their tv and wintering over in Stavanger is not for the faint hearted.
I’ve been a few times and partied in Stavangar. I have two very good friends from Norway. A half Pakistani half Norwegian Muslim and other full Eritrean.

Heather DuPlessis shilling for the right as her good paymasters ask. Of course, she'd do it for free.

This is quite pathetic. Who else are Labour going to cosy up to?

I think the criticism is that during the β€˜unity’ press conference, the Peeni Henare news broke.

Hard to convince voters you have unity with other parties when you don’t even have unity in your own party…

If you look at the slide of democracy in the states, it was gradual. And nefarious.

We see the same in New Zealand, the same tactics coming through.

260 days left for people to be able to register or insure their address is correct if they’ve shifted house…I’m pretty sure most would be able to find sometime to do it if they really wanted to vote.

Of course National wants this, because it's in their favor! Just like Labour want 16 year olds to vote because it's in their favor! You act like the left are innocent πŸ˜‚

You speak the truth!

Funny when one side tilts the playing field it it’s nefarious corruption but when the other side does it, its about being fair and balanced 🀣

Yeah, should have said state controlled. Interesting point about liquor/alcohol. Bit similar to Canada where the majority of the liquor outlets are state run. We used to run over the border from Vancouver every weekend back in the 70's for cheap US booze plus 24 hr service

It's interesting that no one on bsky ever complains that our election results are always biased towards the left anyway.... according to the latest Electoral Commission data, there are 3,287,971 people registered on the general roll and 303,911 people registered on the māori roll. At the next election, there will be 64 general seats and 7 māori seats.

So that equates to an average of just under 51,500 voters for each general seat and just under 43,500 voters for each māori seat. If the number of voters was the same for all the electorates, there would either be only 6 māori seats or 76 general seats.

Election results always start with the left one seat ahead.

Not that it matters to me.... I'm voting for Team Opposed to Pussy Protection.

I see the state is going to build a LNG plant here/infrastructure in New Plymouth.
Dumb idea and the FE report on it made a lot of sense to me.
With Huntly running at full capacity on Coal (cheaper than LNG will ever be) it will require all the Gas fired plants around the country to be re-commissioned.
And, no way in hell will this reduce our power bills.
Would have been better off throwing a billion into exploration on the basis of getting some equity partners to share the risk.
