Something to think about for those who like the idea of having a wealth tax in NZ. If Manuel Villar, the Philippines property developer, paid the proposed wealth tax of the Greens or the TPM, he would have paid $250,000,000 in wealth tax under the Greens policy or $800,000,000 in wealth tax under the TPM policy despite his net worth dropping over 80% in the last 12 months.

Why? Because a wealth tax is one of the fewest forms of tax that doesn't tax on realised gains (either through active or passive income).
