I don't think Russia was particularly interested in Water Reform - more so Russia do seem to implement troll farm disinformation campaigns against indigenous cultures around the world.

Aus had a referendum to on the Voice, not a single Australian was watching indigenous language shows to be influenced against it.
Still struggling to see how a Russian mΔori language show had any meaningful impact on NZ voters. Although it is a pretty convenient scapegoat to avoid self reflection.

Central government shouldnt dictate how councils are run. The council is answerable to its ratepayers. If they rates go through the roof, or infrastructure isnβt maintained, power is in the ratepayers to get rid of councillors. Meddling from Wellington just muddies local democracy
The government should be focused on national matters

Disagree. You canβt vote for lower rates, councils just wonβt do it.
They have a monopoly and they all reference each other to justify higher charges in an endless spiral loop.
If they focused on the basic they can easily keep to inflation but fall back on blaming βyears of underinvestmentβ to prioritise nice to haves.

I said foreign actors run disinformation campaigns to sow disharmony in other cultures. Covid 19 was one, Indigenous cultures is another.
They do this to further their geopolitical goals by attempting to weaken other democracies.

I'm a fan of small, but very accountable governments. A council with a narrow remit (rubbish, roading, parks, water, libraries), but 100% accountability to its rate payers
