Sports 🏏 Black Caps

Awesome day so far. 10 wickets in less than 2 sessions. England almost look uninterested in this game. Southee wicketless should have been dropped instead of Smith. Santner is on a bit of a roll since the Indian series. I thought he wouldnt be as effective in these conditions but might prove to be the difference. Does a win in a dead rubber mean anything for steads coaching?

I'm happy not to enforce the follow on. The bowlers would tire in the 2nd stint, especially with just 3 seamers. The pitch will turn more, and the bounce will get more inconsistent as the test goes on. Plus I feel we need to demoralise England a bit.

Typical that I miss 8 cheap wickets whilst doing the good boy thing and helping out the in-laws! Best session of the series for us...

Did similar. 5 for 80ish.
Had a shower and then 8 for 82

Will Tim Southee get another bat?

I reckon that if a wicket falls near a declaration they'll chuck him in for some fun. Mind you we might struggle to keep wickets in hand on the road to the next 200 runs.

Wow, I didn't realise July tests were Zimbabwe! Our next real tests are this time next year. Meanwhile Root will be a better batsman than Williamson because he'll have 30 more innings of runs by this time next year.

Williamson will be 35! What a waste.

Just 2 seamers....

Why, when we lead by 380+ are we sending a night watchman out? Dumb, conservative play that epitomizes Steads coaching IMO

Such a good day. Really hot and that sun has some sting in it for December. This summer is going to be a scorcher if the last two days are anything to go by. Nice ground, good food and drinks options, could use a bit more shade though, nice crowd and the fans were all a good bunch to chat cricket with. Add in the black caps cleaning up 10 wickets in less than two sessions 🙂

Surely he will come in as a pinch hitter if Williamson and Ravindra can stick around for a while. So much has been made of the six stat for days and another 23 off 10 would be very handy. They need some really quick runs to put the game out of reach as the biggest factor now is time to take the 10 England wickets - overs will be lost with the dodgy weather ahead. Although it remains to be seen if the Baz approach is to shut up shop to try and hold on for a draw.

The way Matt Henry is going he stands to finish this test with a bowling average under 30. Just a few years ago he was struggling to get a look in with a staggering average of something like 65. Incredible turnaround.
