Pick Your Team Dragons v Warriors - Round 7, 2024 PICK YOUR TEAM

Yeah Ford is far from being dropped mate if you want to drop him with a couple hospitals then you must call out others also.
Didn't say drop him. Said he needs to pick up his socks and that the coaches will be discussing him vs Laban from a planning perspective. He is putting himself on the radar is all I am saying at this point.
He is a hell of a defender. He runs sexy lines. If he can learn to hang on to the pill, he can be an SOO player one day. But there needs to be honesty between him and coaching staff. When I had a bad game dropping a couple of catches in cricket I would do remedial fielding practice the next week. He needs practice and he can improve and it needs to be dedicated one on one practice with an assistant coach for one hour a week for the next three weeks doing catching drills. Just him as opposed to relying on team drills to improve him or writing this off as a bad game or bad luck. He is very nearly a strong player. Just needs to improve his hands.

Yeah you're right there he's a great player but it's a fine line between having bad hands and catching hospital passes.
I mean Jazz should also be exposed to your regime too.

My expectation is that he will have excellent hands. And anything less than that I am calling bad hands if that makes sense.

Yes RTS needs a coaching debrief after this game as well. I felt he, RTS, was finding himself in spots on the field and in set scenarios he was not used to and as such he looked inexperienced out there. He is an experienced player but looks really green as a centre. I don't think we are at the stage where the coaches will be thinking Pompey vs RTS but it is the case that RTS himself will expect much better from himself next week.
One of my buddies on this site told me before the season started that RTS would fail as a centre as he can't step people in limited space and would soon turn to over playing his hand. He predicted by round 10 that people on our site would call for RTS be sacked as a centre and for Pompey to return. But then what do you do with RTS? He has to play somewhere and his defence at wing was terrible last week. I think we are going to have to suck up RTS being on a learning curve at centre until round 15 and for our left edge to hit its straps in the last third of the season.

Rts is great but he just needs to slow down his play of the balls, nothing major everyone just has to continue to do the basics right.

Did Leka H get charged following the game yesterday? He was put on report a couple of times wasn't he?

Our defence has been weaker since Capewell joined us.
A function of not really fitting in with SJ his partner yet one hopes.
Capewell and Ford can leave bad gaps, said that last week, that it will be an issue and we were better defensively without Capewell.

Too soon to write him off, I think it is just a familiarity thing. Clunky positioning.

Ford does a lot of dirty work cleaning up, he is everywhere. Laban ain't taking his job this year and they play different roles anyway.
You're dreaming if you think he is getting dropped.
Laban is the natural fill in for Marata eh, same type of player, big with leg speed.

In the 5 games he's played this season we've conceded an average of 18 points. That's lower than our 2023 average

Seems silly to say there is a defensive issue when you put it like that, but runners have been blowing straight through him and SJs channel.
He is a good scrambling defender but there is an issue with him and Ford and their halves partners atm in terms of the conceding at the advantage line.

All the tries bar 1 of the last 2 weeks were through the right edge, not sure the one on the left if it’s Roger or TMM, again they need time to gel

Felt maybe they should have exploited the midfield by having CNK there as Manly clearly got numbers around the ruck to prevent Egan/CNK combos and they slid out wide to shut down wingers quite quickly, don’t think we had enough Ford/Capewell runs or CNK to add numbers

IDK, maybe Manly got that covered too, but Tonu split them and we scored tries off offloads, hope they do more of that we seem to score when Barney offloads, ie vs Panthers in the playoff game too

CNK, Roger and Barney all looked pretty keen to offload, incorporate that into the gameplan

I'd chuck Zyon Maiu’u in there and see how he goes. He didn't look spectacular in NSW Cup but also looked relatively steady. It's either that or carry Pompey on the bench and make either he or RTVS play in the middle for a bit. Roger needs to stay at centre and continue to work on his game.

Assuming they can get through this game without another injury to a prop, then Walker can slot back in the middle on return.

my favourite past time this year has been visiting other club supporter forums in the lead up to our games. It is refreshing to see how petrified opposition supporters have become at the prospect of taking us on. Shows how far we have come as a club under webby: we have gone from a club that others pity to a club that is feared.

The concern with Zyon Maiu’u is he comes in and gets sent off again lol, I'm also guessing Going will get a go since he got a taste at the end of last year

Maybe putting CHT on is also doubling as a trial for his ability to fill in for Jazz/Walker, which becomes a real scenario this weekend, he did alright so maybe CHT/Ale/Laban as the 3 forwards and Going as a back up Webby doesn't have to use if we stay injury free in the game
