Exactly what I was thinking. In most other sports, the first thing you do after signing your contract is go straight to the club doctor for a medical.
You see it all the time of so and so signing with whoever pending all clear with the medical. Would have assumed that when it was announced by the dragons that Volkman was signed that he had undergone a medical in the time the Warriors released him and the announcement from the dragons as they didn’t directly follow each other?

Really sorry to hear this news and was hoping Volkman would do well at the Dragons.
Real ethical dilemma here for both clubs. Whatever happens I hope there is a lot of dialogue between all parties rather than dialogue through lawyers.

Its been a minute since I visited the forum! Work, holidays, baby sitting my own kids etc etc.. But... hear me out we cop a half/utility, a centre/wing utility and a gun prop/ second row utility if we can pull this off.

Free cap space by sending off a few stalwarts.
I floated this one at least a year ago but fair to say I didn’t get much support- I think their reputation proceeds them but sounds like they’ve all grown up a bit….
Don’t know if they’d all wanna leave Sydney and not that fussed on Tyrone but Tyrell and taylan are guns and it sounds like they’d be willing to take unders to play together- look at it as a buy 2 get one free kinda deal.

He can go back to Penrith and they can release JFH on compassionate grounds.

A shame for Volkman.

A lot of questions to be asked around all of this.

Were the Warriors aware of him having an injury?
He may not have raised it or it may not have appeared serious. Was there any work being done on it?
Some things can appear minor but at closer look may require surgery until a further look.

Volkman and his management decided to give up a two year contract to get a one year contract. Sure there are more opportunities at the Dragons and he can move back to Sydney. His management and Volkman would have talked everything through before making their decision. Now they are in a awkward situation without a contract.

What did the Dragons know?
Or what happened the last few days?
That RL Guru podcast mentioned a training mishap and then they found a pre-existing injury. That may have been something that wasn't bothering him.
He was training with a rehab bib on.
Some of this makes the Dragons sound like the new Tigers.

Will the RLPA come in on this?
Covid showed they aren't the best at front footing issues. It usually has to become an issue for someone to then raise the question what are the RLPA doing?

Who you cutting for Taylan May? RTS, Berry, Pompey or Leiataua? I wouldn’t. Could play wing perhaps? Would you really be keen on Tyrone May also? And where would he fit?
Taylan for Montoya- harsh because Marcelo seems a champion bloke but he’s not in taylans class tbh.
The other thing is how often do u actually have your whole backline available? It would be rare I would say.
Tyrone is pretty handy- one of them guys who can play anywhere- he’d slip in the 17 somewhere- probably bench at full strength.
Tyrell starts at prop.

Exactly. Virtually every EPL signing shows the signee being put through whatever medical test with his prospective new club and then it's the Smiley Me Holding The Shirt Of The Club That Might Turf Me Out If They Get A Better Offer Or I Might Quit If I Get A Better Offer Next Transfer Window But I'll Be A (Insert club nickname) FOREVER! Until Then Official Photo....

Doesn't make anyone look particularly on top of things. Didn't anyone tell Ronny there was a problem with his shoulder? How recent is the injury?

The whole situation never made sense to me and still doesn’t.

I think you’d have to take into consideration Montoya’s salary and and what it could cost to get Taylan May? I really like our backs and and with a prop being what we’re lacking we could end up paying big money to get them all when the rest of the squad are performing good bang for buck?

I dunno, for me there's a good chance SJ finishes up in 2024, and as there's not many available halves of his ability left, we'll be fielding a halves combo that will be much less effective. So we have to make up for that somewhere.
I think having May on the wing with his return carries would be huge, and then his brother as a prop/2nd rower taking up the next hit up. Will help soften that blow and hopefully give our halves just a little bit more space.

Tyrone would be a decent utility on the bench

If the powers that be see it as good for the squad I would back it, just sounds like the article mentions him wanting to look after his parents so perhaps want to stay close to them. Would become an expensive exercise to accommodate his parents too. I could see the bulldogs being a team that would take them all?

Do we dodge a bullet or is it like other codes where the medical is part of the clause of signing him, so if he fails it we still have him?

Or have we released him already and now he is contractless?

Or it's the Dragons problem, if he has signed a contract with them, regardless of whether it has been lodged with the NRL or not
surely we have a duty of care if he had the surgery under contract with us?

I'd be surprised if he didn't have some sort of recourse to the Warriors.

You also need to understand the impact to team harmony when you start being too ruthless , it's a fine line between being a too soft, being professional and being cutthroat.
You force Montoya out after his loyalty, what does that do to the mindset of others.

Thats part of the appeal for me- sounds like they would take unders to play together.
Only one set of parents to butter up too- Webby can get his plane out again.
