I know it's been mentioned on here before about his running style so maybe it's a bit deceptive to me but I don't seem to notice this great acceleration of his.
Reece Walsh is someone I'd think of when I think of great acceleration or even tuaupiki has impressed me and seems impressive off the mark.
I guess those 2 would be considered being more nimble rather than just outright acceleration so maybe I've debunked my own point with this sentence 😁.
You could be right about Metcalf, that was just my impression from memory but it's been a while since I actually watched him.

I think Walsh is someone who stands out for acceleration more than top end speed. Not that he doesn't have any top end speed but when he has made a break from well inside his own half I am sure I recall him being chased and caught more than once.

I haven't seen enough of Tuapiki to comment.

Sorry for Volkman but Warriors dodged a bullet.

Just wow!
Do we dodge a bullet or is it like other codes where the medical is part of the clause of signing him, so if he fails it we still have him?

Or have we released him already and now he is contractless?

Or it's the Dragons problem, if he has signed a contract with them, regardless of whether it has been lodged with the NRL or not

Dragons set to cut NRL recruit Ronald Volkman following routine medical exam | Daily Telegraph

Ronald Volkman’s time at the Dragons is all but over with revelations the half needs season ending shoulder surgery.
Volkman only linked up with St George Illawarra this week however scans have revealed a pre-existing shoulder issue which will sideline him long-term.

While the Dragons had agreed to the deal it is understood they were yet to register the contract with the NRL.

That will not happen now. Volkman had secured a release from the final two years of his contract with the Warriors to link up with St George Illawarra.

It is a similar situation to that of would-be Bulldogs recruit Siosiua Taukeiaho whose own two year deal with Canterbury was cancelled after he failed a medical.

Volkman had been spotted training with the Dragons in a yellow bib which generally represents a player who can train without contact.

It is unclear if Volkman will return to the Warriors given the New Zealand club had officially released him before Christmas.

Volkman was signed as cover for the Dragons who had half Talatau Amone de-registered.

The Dragons only have Kyle Flanagan and Ben Hunt on their books. They remain on the look-out for a dummy half. Volkman, 21, played five games for the Warriors.

That's pretty f'd up. You'd think the medical would be done before being released and signing the new contract. Suprised the players union hasn't pushed for that in the past. I can see it from both teams pov but poor guy is essentially unemployed.
Totally agree, so because we released him he loses 2 years of pay and now Dragons won’t sign him and he’s unemployed.
Someone needs to step up out of us and the dragons and at least pay him for this year.
Volkmans management should also dip into their pocket with shit advice.

Didn’t the same thing happen to Mason after he virtually won us the under 21 s gf

Didn’t we pick him up for another 12 months

This is a case where Ron sues his manager surely?

Why would we? The bloke asked for a release knowing that he had this injury.

If I quit my job and a new employer then backs out of a contract because it turns out I wasn't suitable, should my former employer be on the hook to keep paying me? Absolutely not.
You telling me when we released him we didn’t know he had a serious injury?

Hope we did not act in bad faith off loading a player with a serious injury for another club to sign for a 1 year contract.

If this was just serious neglect from his management they should ultimately pay.

He obviously would've known he had the injury too. It sounds like his manager probably assured him everything would be fine and not to worry about it.
