Silly doing it during the daily commute and not a good way to get people behind your cause.
Guess when you consider the protest outside government and down that way and its disruption to the public, perhaps that’s the intention? Everyone who’s affected certainly knows what it’s about when your held up by it. Could turn ugly if opposition to what they’re marching for turns up.

Not our first award here before but the first this early in the summit. Not many good headlines for luxon and the new government currently and worse it sounds like he’s got a leaker in the mix.
We got that award the last 2 years as well under Labour and the Greens 🥱

Come on you guys - focus on some real issues.

Wasn’t the first award dished out in the past though. There’s spotlight on NZ over there for all the wrong reasons.
Let’s think critically about this…

Has anyone ever heard of cop28 before the media latched onto these irrelevant awards?

Do we care that this big climate change event is hypocritically based in the oil dependant and unsustainable Dubai?

Do we care that the cop president is also chief executive of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company?

Do we care the president and host of this year’s summit says that there is “no science” behind the need to phase out fossil fuels.

Do we care that our media has latched onto a 3rd rate joke organisation to create division in our country? While covering that Labour also got the award last year.

Really shows a lot about our media doesn’t it… what was Winston saying about them 🤣

If you hadn’t heard of Cop28 and the other 28 Cops before this one then you have been living in splendid isolation.

Let’s think critically about this, you are trying to defend this guy and give anything he says any credibility after this shameful performance? You can try all you like but there’s no defending what we’re being served up at the moment.

Just returning it to how it was 6 years ago and for the 100 before that.

The bad policies were the ones bough in by Labour that stuffed up our once great country and failed to pass a democratic election.

Chippy started it and Luxon is finishing the job.
How narrow minded to think the ability to buy semi automatic firearms again, flout any better health outcomes we might have had around smoking to ease that burden on our health system and to give the main ingredient in methamphetamine over the counter again to those seeking ingredients to cook it is in any way good for us.

They took away my fags, guns and drugs and we said nothing…

But when they took away my gas to BBQ I snapped mate and said just put it all back and leave me alone!

And National NZ First and Act did 😍

And there is a complex deep down truth to this jest, that the shower head mob and Trumps opponents can never understand. Sometimes even when you do the right thing by force to fast you end up pissing to many people off.

This is an incredibly short-sighted decision.
Also, when was the last time a cabinet paper was leaked? Let alone in the first week. Lol.
Why is it short sighted?
I have only read the newspaper outline of the FPA proposal so I don't know the detail.
At a glance it looks like a return to industry coverage by a Union and with it the right of that Union to negotiate on behalf of workers in that industry.
That is a return to the Award system bargaining. The difference now is that Unions do not have exclusive coverage of workers, voluntary unionism ended that.
Will unions now have as of right to negotiate industry wide agreements for non members and employers are bound to be party to those agreements?
If this is the case it gives Unions quite a lot of power without having to have the membership behind them and will take us decades back in industrial relations.

Who in this are you referring to as doing things by force and too fast in this example?

Really interesting in this trade with Bridges that ideas with merit like reducing the nicotine in tobacco won’t even be considered by this government. There’s either identity politics at play where, just not because labour said so sentiment or they have totally been compromised by the tobacco industry.
