That's not in any of the official outlines or sources though right? It is a convenient attack line from Those on the right though, along with the standard other attack lines

Been through it to many times with you…. the government, through 3 Waters only paid councils for the depreciated value of the assets and leaving the councils with huge debts without the ability to charge water rates and instead the loans would needed to have been repaid with increased rates.

The best option is to go back to before the RMA was changed by Helen Clark’s government who gave into the Councils and allowed councils to put development contributions into the consolidated funds instead of the development contributions being used for water supply and disposal.

Personally, I’d favour a hybrid model of 3 Waters and local ownership, as favoured by some of the largest infrastructure engineers where a government entity takes over (after paying councils a fair amount to cover the cost) of the water supply treatment, waste water treatment and stormwater interception lines. These is the infrastructure that entities like ARC used to own and run.

The local supply and smaller waste and stormwater lines would remain under council control and collect water rates for both the council and central entity. Additional money for major infrastructure can come from private/public partnerships while ownership stays with the government for all the largest infrastructure engineers assets.

It actually comes from the better half who is probably well qualified to comment. I wouldn't really say she is right, or left or whatever those things are but she sure as hell is an activist in terms of if she thinks something isn't fair, it's in boots and all.
This is why I bang on about the tax benefits to māori Companies and Trusts. She can claim it, I can't. Bit weird to have to go down the back of the bus in a country that fought (She and I were those soldiers) long and hard to rid South Africa of apartheid. And don't forget the shit storm in Sudan my friends. Gaza pales into insignificance to what is happening there.

Plus I may have mentioned earlier, she considers grifters to be amongst the lower forms of life. Funny really, use to be used car salesmen, now it's lawyers, spoke persons and political wannabees.

Forgot to add, and this is probably also relevant to our development as a club, her favourite comment to the kids and grandkids is "If you're Good enough, you're Good enough" Take it as you will.

I can only look at what I search for very basically, with all due respect. And even this basic search, from reputable factual sources, contradicts what you've said in your first sentence Mike. I don't doubt what you say after that has merit and context.

There was and still is a very clear disinformation campaign full of fear and anti māori sentiment that Labour never successfully countered. That's on them.

I'm keen for facts though, very keen.

All of which is a nice distraction from the far right pushing for hard educational change and privatisation of our schools.

Would be nice to see some of you angry about three waters speak up about that, after all it's happening right in front of you and blatantly corrupt.

Is she convinced Iwi Chairs are grifters?

Her words, not so much the chairs who are complicit (in her opinion as they preside over $1b of the NZ internal economy) but the likes of Tamihere, Jackson and the Harawira's who continually grift public funds but don't seem to do much to alleviate the negative statistics for māori. TMP are in the same boat in terms of, what have they actually done for our people other than embarrass us.
