Kamicamica dropping the ball over the line has completely changed the momentum of the game. Can't believe Melbourne didn't score in the last 10 minutes too when they made breaks. Paps was immense.

Reece Walsh was out of this planet. Maybe the best ever grand final performance.

If Melbourne won Katoa would have had a good chance of Clive Churchill medal.

Even though I liked both teams I was heavily going for Melbourne in that final once the game started. Especially when Walsh didn't get sent off for that shoulder to the head of Coates. That was absolute bullshit and the NRL clearly doesn't care about head injuries and welfare of the players if they allow that in big games like SOO and grand final. Like seriously, what are they thinking. If that was a rugby union world cup final it would be a card every single time 100%. You can't pick and choose when to enforce it, even if it means the game gets ruined because a team has 12 players vs 13. That is the one thing I do not like about the NRL. There is no consistency regarding enforcement of rules, biases towards big name players and teams regarding suspensions etc. Rugby league feels like such a product sometimes.

For sure NRL got the Final they wanted, the two major AFL states, and the winner ... Brisbane won the AFL ... NRL mgmt all about the $$$$ If Broncos didn't get to the GF would see the water talk all about the Brisbane AFL team ...

1000% if that head shot was a WAHs player in any match he would have been off the field min 10mins

I thought with Walsh too that there wasn’t much of a wrapping motion and led with his shoulder. I went with it at the time but with what followed, I thought he was really lucky not to cop a sin bin like Loiero. Didn’t think the winning try in the Woman’s game was a try either. All said and done, congrats to broncos

shows you how little NRL form during the season really matters. Storm have been the best side all year for much of the last 2 years but just haven't gotten it done when it matters. This year 3 of the top 4 when origin finished included us, dogs and raiders. All three of us choked big time when it came time for the dance though.
Broncs took 20 rounds to get Reece into gear though

They've also had the nucleus of that side for at least 4-5 years. Same with Melbourne. We're still at a development stage. But if the state championship belting is a sign of anything, it's that we will have the players in the pipeline to be able to play that expansive style too.
Its 100% on their backline though. 1-5 is what won them then, swap out 6,7,9 for any top ten talent and they win.

The reason why the NRL get so much stick - inconsistent game to game and even within a game

Personally I thought Walsh's was worse
Even the penalty on Haas right at the start of the game I thought was a soft one for a grand final and wondered if it would set the tone for the pin up players of the nrl being looked after, probably more a case of a ref stamping his mark realistically that he won’t put up with players lying in the ruck to stop a quick play the ball. Consistency is and has always been the issue with the criticisms of the ref and the bunker

After reflection on the game im kinda abit confused on brisbane, they are truly a team where the parts are greater then the whole which concerns me.

Like any game their stars could di a walsh last night and carry them to the win but they aren’t really a team

Walsh is just that good. He was responsible for 3/4 of their points and took about 12 points off Melbourne through defence.

Defence was always what I was critical of but he’s found some mongrel defensively and you can see with the strain on his face that he’s feeling the waves of emotion. Maguire went there saying we’ll see about that nail polish, but Walsh was still wearing his nail polish last night, they’ve found a middle ground where they understand each other. This is the version of Walsh I would have loved at the Warriors

100% agree for last night but also i look at that team and think they should be almost unstoppable with all those stars but last night outside of walsh they felt a bit flat.

And thats my concern they don’t really win as a team, could argue that if reece walsh doesnt have arguable the best individual finals series they arent a threat

On the Walsh high shot....imo it changed the course of the game as if they binned him they would have had to bin Hughes about 5 minutes later.

For me, I just want the refs to be consistent and on the day, I felt like they were.

No bin for RW, no bin for Hughes, and a sinbin at the end that imo, was the worst of the 3 high shots so was reasonable.

So many times in a similar situation we've seen them not bin the RW one, and then bin the Hughes one which is massively inconsistent. In game, as long as the consistent and are happy to let the game flow a little bit more, I'm happy with

All of them sin bins in regular season but Loliero's was clearly the worst by a distance imo. Didn't leave any room for GF leniency.
As an earlier poster mentioned that all shots connected with head, so under the letter of the law probably couldn’t be contested that they were the correct calls but probably all different circumstances. Potentially Loiero’s history has bitten him? And yes, others were potentially falling into it? Can recall Vaimauga during the year falling into a tackle and hit high, so possible that plays apart
