General NSW Cup 2025

Piss poor comment right there. He was a part of this team and a player who played the majority of games to help get the team to finals. Through injury or not he was there and he did his job.
So he’s exempt from criticism because he’s from your hometown?

Have a day off mate, he’s on top 30 contract and never looked like performing up to that

No not exempt from criticism at all. Your comment on him coming here for a holiday was stupid and uncalled for. Did he play nrl - no but he went to training and played a major part of the nsw cup team playing most of the games so contributing to get them to finals. That is not a holiday. Just because he didn’t make first grade does not mean he didn’t train hard. I get why he isn’t playing finals / I have said previously that I felt for him and also Doyle who have been there form the start of the season. Go and do a week of training that ALL those guys do and tell me it’s a holiday. I’ve been to trainings at a club in Aussie for a week years ago - most of us on here would not handle it. I get you don’t like Harper - that’s obvious - you take a day off mate - quite a few people agreed with me on my comment about your post being uncalled for. FYI - I would have said the exact same thing if you had posted about any of the team saying that

You absolutely would not have.

Look at your history, couldn't be further up Harper's arse if you tried.

In my eyes, coming over on a top 30 contract and then having a lot of people questioning your place in the reserve grade side, that's a paid holiday to me.

Putoko comes in first game from Jersey Flegg and plays better than any game Harper has had this year. SIo Kali been outperforming him. Even Setu Tu I thought was better the few games he had at center. Obviously MGT has been a mainstay ahead of him from outside the top 30 too.

Is Cappy also to blame? No question

I think let's just leave this here, I think any comment on this bloke pulls some deep emotional strings with you and has done the entire season.

I actually stopped from commenting I him all the time earlier in the season because of your comments about it. I 💯 would have said it about any one of the team had you sald that comment. yes came on a top 30 contract - who would turn that down??? Didn’t make the grade - get that - doesn’t mean he was on holiday. Happy to leave it here - I like him - you don’t - nothing wrong with that.

Yeah because i was definitely the only one hey

Luckily no one else really qualifies for that comment

And yeah no blame for taking the contract on offer! Full respect to him. I think its probably highlighted some cracks in Cappy's evaluations more than anything which is concerning going forward.

At the time DWZ was injured for a decent length of time, Berry and Leiataua were struggling to stay on the field. MGT wasn't able to cut it in first grade (although I think he deserved an extended run).
Just because he didn't get picked doesn't mean it was a bad depth signing, any more injuries and he would have been picked, but thank goodness we didn't.

He looked like an NRL player on debut.

I was really impressed with his off the ball work in NSW cup leading up to that game.

The issue isn't physical. He's not even trying is the issue, just making fake efforts like under sevens.

There is no lack of confidence when a Try is in the offing, he can shimmy and step for those.

I think he has dropped his lip. He got one NRL glory game, got held back because he wasn't earning it back....stopped giving a shit.

We'll see this weekend, he's a Grand final winner playing in one of the strongest sides ever-lets have another look, coz the Bears know what the Dragons knew.

Look I hope I'm wrong, I hope everyone's optimism is well placed.

I know I've been harsh, I spose I feel dudded after being sold on the hype, it can be sooo frustrating watching young people waste their talent.

Fingers crossed, I don't want him to make every tackle, that's not it, I just want some effort in the attempt.

I don't think some have adjusted to the idea that not every player picked up by Cappy is gonna be for NRL pathway as their main reason for signing.

Harper was clearly signed for his experience, specifically his passing game, which is excellent - ergo it is about finding people who will feed the players we want to grow. I've ranted about this point regarding our halves and why we sign so many
Or it's about their game sense, Harper helps our halves by being in position and timing his draw and pass, when I say helps our halves I'm talking growth and development.

Fundamentally why we struggle to look like other top four clubs:

Picture what it takes to look structured like Aussie sides then consider our actual reality.

A lack of awareness
Leads to poor positing
Off timing
Leads to a poor platform or no opportunity to run - draw the defender - pass the ball.
Low accuracy with catching and passing means players reaching for ball = no front foot ball - clunky stilted attack = lost shape to the formation = lost timing = everybody out of position = ball carrier takes the tackle and dies with the ball.

So what's the solution? You bring in a Harper and it helps multiple positions to develop fluidity and structure.

For too many years the Warriors have let good young wingers die on the vine for lack of service from the center three quarter.

The other thing people berating Harper's signing need to get a grip with is the elephant in the room *the Warriors can't fill their roster with half decent imports any given year because fundamentally people don't want to come here, ergo a flirtation with a Morgan Harper for one year is neither here nor there.

He was in the top 30 squad , wasn't his job to be in first grade or a back up to that team? We had a heap of injuries (Rocco, Ali , DWZ, RTS)and he couldnt get a run in the first grade team and was on the bench for the reserves...

Not his fault he came home and was offered big $$$ vs his previous contract at Manly or Storm (can't remember ) .
I think this was a terrible rushed signing by the club - perhaps the worst in the post COVID era. There must have been a better outside back elsewhere?
