Can't agree more. We can expect full ref and NRL leverage for a fairytale Sydney weekend, Dogs back on track and Panthers now into top 4.
Everyone on the Wah's need to be aware of this and get ready with the big finger to the officials. We can and will play better than your corrupt system. Bring it on Mr Gee!
While this is true, I generally hate this sentiment. So we have to be 20% better than other teams? How is that possible or logical? We NEED to get better at pushing rules and managing refs. We NEED a captain who is preferably an aussie representative (Steve Price being the optimal example). But if not an aussie rep, someone who is very good with the rules and the refs.
Webby's come from the Penreff system, and they have become as extreme as the storm at pushing the limits (see the weekends game). I hope Webby is working on building that platform. Not that we'll ever be able to push it as far as those teams, but we can and must do better. THAT is how you take the ref out of the game.
An obvious example is how Penrith give away a shit ton of infringements early in the games, primarily on their try line. They get given a longer leash, as we would certainly have had a bin pulling what they did against the titans, but it's smart. Ref puts the whistle away and you can continue to push things for the rest of the game, while only getting pinged at a similar rate to the other team.
Then when people whinge about the refs you can point to how you're one of the most penalised teams and have a moan yourself even though you should have twice as many.
20% better is a number you made up and is no way based in fact. I can guarantee no ref purposefully goes out to favour one team every game they play, you are disciplined or you are not.
I do agree ref managing is definitely something we can improve on.

I agree that 'no ref goes out there to favour one team', but jeeze Damo there's some pretty compelling arguments against us at times.
The thing that pisses me off the most though, is when the ref isn't consistent. As a ref, if you're going to call Wayde's try against the Knights a no try, there's no way that try where Marhew passes off the ground a try, yet it's given.
I think it was the game against Souths where Lattrel threw two massively forward passes right in front of the touchie who let it go, then a 40/20 attempt by Souths where the touchie is about 40m down field manages to see CNKs boot a milimeter on the sideline....
There are soo many examples of us getting penalized for something, then the ref allows the other team to do that same thing. It doesn't happen every game, but man it seems to happen to us often. Or, the refs seem to miss a
Something massive and obvious (like the TMM late/high shot against Dogs last year) that costs us an opportunity to win the game.

It swings and roundabouts. We have had calls in our favour and calls against us.
Waydes try his elbow touched the deck, Marzhews his arm didn't. Technically both calls are correct.
We are going to notice the calls against us more than the calls that favour us due to our inherent bias.
My point still stands. Both calls were correct.

I reckon we win this, reckon we’ll be well up for it after last year getting dudded. I reckon Halasima getting called out by Cooper Cronk will have a steely edge in the effort areas

Given Doggies woes in wet weather this year, and our historical woes in wet weather (don't recall which games this year have been rain-affected), it's basically anyone's game whoever wants to keep hold of the ball the most!
