Yeah I kinda agree. Metcalf was going great, but when you look at it, what was he actually doing well specifically?

Try assists? Not bad, but nothing miraculous.
Short kicking game? Not bad, but fairly middle of the road for an NRL half (last few weeks this looked to be improving).
Long kicking game? I would say below average for NRL level halves.
Goal kicking? Below average for an NRL half
Scoring tries? Above average for an NRL half.
Defence? About average for an NRL half

Metcalf was certainly growing as a half as the year went on, but overall as an NRL half he wasn't actually killing it in one particular area of his game. I feel that well lose a lot of his off the cuff play - his pace, his support play and his vision at times, but we'll also gain a shit load from Boyd leading us around, particularly with his kicking game and goal kicking.

I feel like with Metcalf, we were always kind of waiting for him to do something, or create for others, whereas Tannah will get us to the right parts of the field and give our players opportunity to compete, but I think we'll need our other attacking weapons to finish it off once we're in the red zone
First things first we need our forwards to dominate. That's only gotten harder without Mitch.
Everything starts up front and it's going to be even more important when Boyd goes to 7. That's who I presume/prefer takes over

We need to use Leka better, he’s one of the best tackle busters I’ve seen ever. Look at how Knights use Lucas, if he’s not getting put through holes they give him a lot of early ball to work with and he’s killing it.
A lot of it has to do with defences marking up on him I know, as he’s always got 3-4 players waiting for him.
But I would just like to see him get plenty of early ball in space.
Also hope webby isn’t holding him back, give him the licence to do what ever he wants, Run, Step, Offload

The problem was we were relying on Metcalf to make something from nothing BECAUSE our attacking weapons (wingers and second rowers) weren’t being set up.

It’s criminal that Leka and DWZ aren’t being put into holes. They are point scoring machine if used right.

Our halves were the main problem in attack, not the solution we’re going to be missing.

A lot of pressure ya'll are putting on byod to "fix our attack". I also hope byod manages to be an improvement on Metcalf, but interesting to see so many people have that as the expectation.

Huh?
I was literally saying outside of Tannah kicking us to the right parts of the field, we'ee going to need to rely on others to get us across the line haha.
Yeah Boyd is never going to be an improvement on Metcalf but hopefully he fills the position and brings something different
Kicking passing and defense would be a start
Never going to replace the attacking attributes of Metcalf and I am not expecting that

Gee a bunch of calls about our season being over if we lose to the Tigers....

Yeah nah.

The Warriors always go back to round one clunkyness when you change the halves.

There will be a two to six game period of adjustment.

Other teams may be more settled and bedded in after 18 rounds of competition hey look at the Tigers, watch their actual last game, they are playing on pride, a dangerous thing.

I expect we will drop three to four games coming in cold.

We are in a reset, next man up is all well and good, but it applies to musicians not conductor of the orchestra.

I agree dropping 3 to 4 games is realistic given the disruptions. Even 4 losses might be enough for top 4. But this season is so unpredictable it's impossible to gauge how these 9 remaining regular season games will go. One thing that's a given is that we will compete hard in every one of them.
