First things first we need our forwards to dominate. That's only gotten harder without Mitch.Yeah I kinda agree. Metcalf was going great, but when you look at it, what was he actually doing well specifically?
Try assists? Not bad, but nothing miraculous.
Short kicking game? Not bad, but fairly middle of the road for an NRL half (last few weeks this looked to be improving).
Long kicking game? I would say below average for NRL level halves.
Goal kicking? Below average for an NRL half
Scoring tries? Above average for an NRL half.
Defence? About average for an NRL half
Metcalf was certainly growing as a half as the year went on, but overall as an NRL half he wasn't actually killing it in one particular area of his game. I feel that well lose a lot of his off the cuff play - his pace, his support play and his vision at times, but we'll also gain a shit load from Boyd leading us around, particularly with his kicking game and goal kicking.
I feel like with Metcalf, we were always kind of waiting for him to do something, or create for others, whereas Tannah will get us to the right parts of the field and give our players opportunity to compete, but I think we'll need our other attacking weapons to finish it off once we're in the red zone
Everything starts up front and it's going to be even more important when Boyd goes to 7. That's who I presume/prefer takes over
