Wrighty you are a man of statistics and evidence are you not?

Can you please advise me of how you came to this conclusion. My response to you is that you COULD be right. Leka may actually be a shit center, but we do not have any evidence of this as he has only started there once, and played a handful of minutes after shifting to centre mid game.

What is it about Leka's game that makes you think he wont succeed, when many of his skills (strength, balance) should, in theory benefit from more space and generally smaller players marking him (as opposed to props and 2nd rowers closer in).

Moving Leka to center could be literally, the single greatest positional switch in the history of the game, or it also could be the worst, or it could be anywhere in between. I'm keen to hear your thoughts!
Yeah I think if the halves can give our centres early ball and space to strike then there is no reason why this pairing couldn't be right up there! In any case im please to see Leiataua there.

There is no stats I can provide off a sample of one game. I might pull out the stats if he had played three or four games at centre. This is just an eye test comment. He was invisible in the game he played at centre and looked lost as where to stand and what to do and was the opposite of pro-active when it came to injecting himself into the game. It looked like he had no idea how to play the position.
Putting my positive thinking cap on the best explanation I have is that
1) They are holding Pompey back for Trial number 2
2) Charnze is really going to be the third ranked centre but he is in the All Stars game
3) They had to scrape around this game for who to play at centre and came up with Leka.

Yeah that's all fair, and I guess that was kinda my point. He's played so little there, that it's hard to judge him off one game. Against the defending 4x premiers no less.
So, for me it's more of a wait and see imo.

I'm hoping that Pompey, Ali, Rocco, CNK are all ahead of him, with Putoko a smokey, before Leka gets a chance there.

But I guess if they're looking at Leka there, at minimum they might see him as the in game switch to centre if/when required, which is still pretty significant and means he would have trained there a bit over the off season surely

1) Pompey is in the All Stars Reserves

And I think points 2 and 3 are accurate

The person who I am most excited about seeing this weekend is Vaimauga. During the pacific tests the top tier elite power forwards looked incredible. People like Tapine and Whyte and Erin Clarke were beyond impressive. However young Vaimauga held his own and looked like he belonged at this level. People are talking up Leka as being a future star but I think we could be on to something as well with Vaimauga. He could be legit.
