If you are going to contact the kicker, you have to complete a safe regulation tackle. Dispite my disagreeance with the rule you can't just push them, it's been ruled that way for awhile now.

The options are -
1. Make contact before both their feet leave the ground and complete a stock standard tackle
2. Pressure and don't touch/make contact

Things you can't do -
1. Make contact once both their feet are off the ground
2. Make contact with the kicking leg while trying to put pressure on
3. Simply push them over as CHT did
I don't know man - I reckon it was within the action of pressure and an attempted tackle, plus you see that plenty of times without a penalty - seemed a fastidious call to me

After a loss like that, it's important to take a day off to have some perspective rather than rage posting like many of us have done.

Very disappointing to follow up our best performance with one of our worst. We weren't awful and at times I thought we defended our goal line very well. But our line speed was definitely off what it was against Cronulla. And when you are off by even 1%, no matter who you are playing, you're not getting the chocolates in the NRL. We can put this down to flatness after the bye, which many teams have been guilty of. We've also been up for so long that maybe we were due a performance like this. In any case, none of this excuses the performance which is well below the standards we've set all season. This is not the sort of game a premiership contender dishes out.

Regarding positives, I think it's the growth of our young forwards. Demi's silky ball skills. Laban's line running which looks just as damaging as what Cronulla has with Nikora. Jake is also solid on D- when Penrith made that break with Laurie, he was chasing and keeping pace. Made a few tackles in that same set to prevent the try scoring opportunity. if anything, Leka was the weakest performing young forward out there tonight. But he'll come back better next week no doubt.

As for the injuries, I guess we'll have to wait. But if Luke has an issue, we should not hesitate in give Boyd a crack. He's earnt it and won't let us down. I'd even be tempted to switch CHT and TMM for the game and have the pairing of Boyd/TMM that's been killing it in cup. CHT can play as the utility. As for Marata, Bunty comes in for me and TT for DWZ. Capewell to take MGT's place.

Onwards and upwards. If this year's history is any judge, we'll bounce back next week for the Suncorp trifecta.

the form of all teams expect for the top 4 has been so hard to read - I'm not mad at yesterday's loss, probably comes at the right time though was very disappointing - we saw some great things too, as you point out - have to keep going with our young guys who are real difference makers - personally I'm hoping Luke is alright, as his game will be killer against a disorganised broncos pack (they really lose it when Haas and Carrigan are off, and don't look especially well organised at the best pf times)

It took me all of 1 hr to get over the result. We were just outsmarted and outplayed just like a chess game. Its next week's game that we need to get the 2 pts to keep the wolves coming from 8th spot area to keep our buffer.I just hope Walsh gets taken out of the picture.DWZs time has come he's too much of a liability now.Lets move on from last night and get our season back on track.

Even in our successful 2023 year, we had that aberration where we got done by the baby broncos in Napier. Performances like this are going to happen from time to time, even for the top 4 teams. It's how you respond that separates us from the rest. Every loss this year, we've responded with a winning streak (3,5,2). I expect the boys to bounce back from this in a big way. I'm sure fish will be especially hurting about that performance and he'll be ripping in big time this week.

If the wahs from the sharks game turns up, we have the gameplan to trouble the broncos. They've been shown to be brittle when challenged to a grind. That's been our jam this year. We've already outmuscled them once this year.

I think we’ll play Capewell at centre with that being a good recipe last time we played broncos and Halasima had some joy against Riki. Hopefully Laban is ok after limping badly and Niukore out. Capewell and Tuaupiki were found out against cowboys as a combination, I think I’d play Kosi as DWZ’s replacement
the one thing I have been surprised by all year is that teams have not exploited TT's small stature as a defensive liability. Storm were the only ones to really do it to us. So I agree that Kosi should get the crack if DWZ is out. His cup form also warrants a recall. Shows real ticker for him to come back the way he has.

Recently Tapine came over with an intention of playing the bad guy and last night it was Sorensen. Interesting how Kiwis tend to lift when playing the Warriors or brings out extra motivation
Maybe there's something in that which means that our guys need to go out and specifically target those Kiwis and put the fear of Wahs up them. Reduce them to nothingness early so their team can't build momentum off them ala AFB and the Sharks.

The first sorenson try was DWZ, either unfamiliar with centre or injury, Metcalf would release off the half after the pass and cover the winger in that situation, centre should cover the 2nd row
The back-door player Laurie was for DWZ to mark, not that he could he was on one foot. MGT was covering wing/Jenkins. The 3 man was Metcalf on Sorenson, Metcalf was in no mans land but maybe he was already injured as he he left a lot of those gaps.
