‘Be patient’: Webster’s message to Warriors fans over struggling star
Luke Metcalf is being backed by his coach and teammates.www.nzherald.co.nz
I hear you with the fantasy lol.As poor as Metcalf was he was not the problem last week. And, I don't even think he is coming under that much pressure - other than from disgruntled fantasy owners!
If you think you have a 7, you have to pick and stick with them for a while, at least 4 or 5 games in a row. Patience with Metcalf is the right option. Just make sure you are doing your best to give him a platform.
That opportunity was last week for them.Realistically, we were poor in most aspects for our first game.
I'm not opposed to giving the players the opportunity to remedy this.
It's a win-win situation for Webby, if we produce a magic victory hes going to be seen as a special coach, whereas if the same shit happens and we get pumped, he can ring in the changes yet still be the good guy where he tried to let the team take accountability and improve on their shit performance.
That opportunity was last week for them.
Most of these guys have been underperforming since the start of last year.
That should’ve been the message all off-season, come out RD1 with your best effort otherwise changes will be made
The coaches can’t make Capewell be more athletic or Ford bend the line for a single carry.Sounds like if the coaches looked themselves in the mirror they would acknowledge that they too were a hot mess.
It's a reset for everyone. Obviously, keep the 1 - 13 as a run on side and get the young guys in the game early is what we are looking for from the coaches.
Webby is the best coach we can get! Just like the players, no one wants to come here! The coaches can’t make Capewell be more athletic or Ford bend the line for a single carry.
Maybe they can take some ownership on not getting Nuikore firing once in his tenure here.
Websters downfall will definitely be his loyalty to poor performers. It’s not like his hands are tied with no viable alternatives.
The former is out through injury and replaced by Josh Aloiai (both are Auckland born)Do we know if any of Manly's players were injured after the last game?
I saw Sio Taukeiaho and Kolua both had ice on their hammy's at the end of the game, with both only playing 20 and about 56min each.
but like some have mentioned...Webby needs assistants that challenge him...not just yes men..i'd like to see the ball go through at least 6 pair of hands in a set sometimes so i can stay awake lolWebby is the best coach we can get! Just like the players, no one wants to come here!
1. Organised. If suggestions of lack of fitness are accurate really is no hiding it on this stage. So utilise the level of fitness available hyper efficiently. Know the fastest way forward. And that is not wrestling bigger packs. It is the adage of promoting the ball. Ball movement beats man movement.
2. That means runners. Never let Fish, Barney or our koros run one out. Run in numbers to unlock the ability to make a late pass at the line by our forwards. Or a bit of Addin and Ale late footwork. Therefore don't let Walker be the first sub or the only first sub. Leka on the field at 20-25 minutes gives us the timing and the speed and youthful vigour to move their big pack around.
None of that happened because we tried to beat a heavier pack like we were as big as they are.Honestly I thought our game in Vegas was so bizarre....
Raiders started with a very heavy pack. I thought we contained them relatively well (scoreboard wise) that first 25 minutes or so, and as we were supposed to be the fitter team I was waiting for the cavelry to arrive in Leka, Walker and Vaimunga and up the tempo, have those short interchange passes that worked well against Storm in the trial, and generally try to use the advantage of the smaller player, which we have plenty of.
But, it just never came. We left Ford and Marata on for too long and they were gassed/ineffective. And then we didn't even try to offload at all? Seriously confusing as to what the actual game plan was. I hope Webby has put his hand up and owned that he was too slow to react to what the game required, and remedies this on Friday.
As they say, insanity is doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results...
East stand at the top is fine if you are close to the centre of the field.I was thinking about taking my kids this week.
Anyone sat in these locations and can provide some thoughts?
East stand right up the top
The West Stand in the bottom tier
West Stand I'm more worried about the distance from the field. It isn't that far but it has been a long since I have been in that stand as every other time was corporate boxes.
I was surprised in that second half in Vegas how many times JFH would cover the first 7-8 metres really quickly then turn and look to pass. No one was there. It was the perfect opportunity to get the second rowers and centres early ball on the front foot but we seemed to be setting up for the next playRunning one off the ruck will result in a loss. The only possibility of our lighter pack winning the important facets of metres, ruck speed and tackle dominance is to be:

3. Cue the skillset of Egan in the middle. Egan shall run, dummy and provide silky smooth passes on the back of it.
4. Cue the Metcalf, Tuaupiki and Roger cohort running lines and angles to further tire out the massive big boys and Jazz.
5. That's what I reckon
6. What say you?
East stand is best IMOI was thinking about taking my kids this week.

Thanks. Pretty much in the centre.East stand at the top is fine if you are close to the centre of the field.
Besides the last time I went which was in the South Stand. I have usually been in the East Stand but a lot lower down and on the ends.East stand is best IMO
