Masterclass in gamesmanship and playing to the ref from the storm, and silly compounding errors just undid all the amazing work we did at the start, then it felt like back to square one. Frustrating game that one.
Thats what gets me- don’t the refs review the games and go- fark the storm pulled one over us there- won’t let that happen again…
They just seem to fall for their shit every game, every season 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Everyone knows they crowd the ruck, play the ball off the mark, Hughes dives…
Wouldn’t say it cost us the game but certainly didn’t help.
I thinks it’s the predictability of it that irks me.

That basically takes the streak to 10 years. I was a 7 year old child when we beat the storm last. I am now 18. I cried when Coates scored in corner earlier this year, but I don't even feel sad anymore. I genuinely think we are cursed to never beat the storm again
Hold up, to never beat the storm again?! Come on mate, we'll beat 'em sooner than Never. Strewth!!

I was genuinely shocked that NAS actually got called for a plant (FINALLY).

Clear SJ needs to take flight or this is his last season. Tohu too slow and Walker on way too long. Cramped up a dozen times last 20. CHT came on with 8 mins to go. I have no words for some of Websters subs, been that way a few times this year.

Move TMM to fullback, player there with the Bronx and push CNK to centre. Webster needs to stop whacking off over Jackson Ford, yes he may be a workhorse and make a lot of runs but they are ineffective and so is his defence when he tires.

Reminds me of Super Coach ass clowns, who will start pulling out stats, not what real knowledgeable fans of league see. Impact players who make a fucking difference. Like comparing a bucket of KFC with a Michelin star chefs chicken Maryland.
I think Roger should go to fullback and Chanze to right centre

Maybe Webster told SJ to stop being a ball hog and let Martin run the show a bit more so he thought fuck it.
Webster pre game did say SJ was going to be playing a different style.

Yes. No coincidence our dominance fell off when he came on
Prior to him coming on they showed a stat that we'd completed at 50% in the 5 minutes before his introduction. Couple that with us conceding 10 unanswered points before him entering the game along with the Storm introducing Welch & NAS to coincide with his entry, it'd be more accurate to say your assumption has no merit whatsoever

What’s happened to Egans speed?
Seems a lot slower these days. Half breaks then he’s chased down….

I thought things looked quicker when CHT came on… all 6 mins!

Only shining light I saw in that team was Marata Niukore. He was a beast

Two factors:

1. Any team not watching him like a hawk are not being coached correctly.

2. The head knocks

I think he is plateauing. Still a very good player and worthy of the extension but all this NSW rep talk earlier in the year etc will never happen for him.

From 14-0 up thought it was pretty obvious we lost the momentum (and the game really) after that 20 minute mark through not being able to defend our penalties and errors.
- Niukore gets pinged with that bs not square penalty, they march up field Katoa scores off the end of it
- DWZ spills that Hughes bomb Anderson scores off the back of it
- Jackson Ford gets penalized for the "dangerous" contact on the kicker, they go upfield expose our right edge and Ieremia scores
- A Tohu Harris error in the play the ball, Katoa makes the line break and Meaney scores supporting

So we yielded 20 points and all momentum in the space of about 14 minute which tbh we never got back as we lost shape and compounded things through more errors and penalties.. Was evident during our losing stint pre Panthers that this was the similar pattern during those losses and for mine while the attack needed to be tweaked with variations it seemed obvious that cutting down and defending our errors was what needed to be the main focus.

The new attack was interesting. Certainly looked allright at the start. Big fundamental change in Te Maire being the main ball receiver (51 recipts to SJs 41), and the go to red zone kicker, and it certainly looked like he had free reign to play both sides while Shaun pretty much just camped on the right edge and took the long kicks......still a work in progress and tbh once we lost momentum and the sinbinnings we seemed to lose all shape.....however, losing momentum through errors and penalties and not being able to defend those errors and penalties should be the main takeaway from this game.
