ShameNo idea, but he's not signed with us next year so pretty clear he's not a major factor in our future plans.

Looking at how Metcalf is playing, it’s a bit like Tanah Boyd in nsw cup where he’s playing halfback in the sense of being the main distance kicker and TMM in the true sense of a five eighth. Wondering if the beginning of the season has been deliberately set how it has with Metcalf getting time with a defensively sound CHT to concentrate and become accustomed to the right, and TMM has started the season in nsw cup next to a controlling halfback in Tanah Boyd to concentrate on the playmaking and getting accustomed to the left? TMM best form was on the right last year and is really hitting some form on the left. Wonder if they started the season apart to work on what was needed and Metcalf halfback and TMM five eighth in the first grade team isn’t far away?First thing LM needs to do is start taking the line on.
His lack of running is hurting his own play.
He certainly lacks much of the SJ finesse which is why he is better suited to being that 6 and supporting.
But, halfbacks take time to develop - I think we need to give him the time.
This attack though is not just about personnel on the field, is Stacey the attack coach? Cos it's been crap for a while
Our permanent centres will be Leiataua and Berry, Pompey out, for the moment though Pompey will probably go to the wing for RTS.Webster has been keen on Berry. That is understandable as he was doing a lot of good things before he got injured. Defended well, lead our kick chase, ran good lines. Had a good combination with DWZ on the right hand side.
He is going to find it hard to replace Leiataua on the right hand side.
Leiataua is looking like a weapon if we give him some shape to run a line or can get the ball to him at pace.
No he was digging a graveJust saw some highlights, the celebration from Ali Leiataua when he smashed Sandon Smith, was that the Waka Oar?
Am I the only one you are confusing Frank? First you put in your opinion, then someone counters and you like it. Are you trying to keep the debate going or what?
It was all your fault then, Beastie? Hold your tongue sirHuh?
At no point did I say TMM comes in for CHT or Metcalf. I was initially preaching Tuapiki in the halves then someone mentioned TMM was killing it in cup and I said I love me some TMM… you bobcats all jump on it like a bad rash saying I think we should drop CHT and Metcalf….
TMM will get his chance …. I rest easy knowing this
So if we are 4 wins / 2 losses in round 6, you are think demoting them both to NSW Cup is the move?Maybe a good option is if CHT and LM are still struggling after 6 rounds then they both go down to cup to work on their combo and attacking play and TMM and Boyd come up as replacements having had a chance to work on their own combo in cup?
Erin can be the play the ball player 13. He did it at the Titans. On the negative side, I don't know how many rounds in we should wait before becoming officially worried about the lack of attacking shape displayed so far. Erin Clark is doing a great job in the middle but he isn't a ball playing 13 as Tohu was, which was quite critical to our attacking structure for the last few years. As someone mentioned above, we only ever seem to get some semblance of shape when Walker comes into the game because both our halves seem lost when it comes to organizing. Personally, I'd like to see Boyd given a run in the halves at some stage this year partnering LM. His organizing ability clearly complements that of a more running half like TMM in NSW cup.
I like Clark's ball playing. He doesn't over do it and is a consistent run threat. He has a lot more energy at the position and is doing a lot of the 1%s. Landing on his front, getting fast ptb, getting back to marker, running decoy runs.On the negative side, I don't know how many rounds in we should wait before becoming officially worried about the lack of attacking shape displayed so far. Te-maire Martin 4 try assists, 2 try’s on the weekend
It's not doom and gloom by any means. I think by using more of our youth in first grade we can increase our pace. Our 2023 heights and 2024 highlights were when we lit the afterburners and napalmed every team. Unfortunately we couldn't sustain it and would be run down like against Melbourne. Anyway my point is that our best attack is more achievable with the younger players as their play the ball speed leads to points.I honestly think people are missing the forest for the trees here, I get all the concern over attack, I would like to flog teams by 30 plus aswell. But at the end of the day we are winning and nicely too. Let the halfs learn and back out defence to allow them to we need to go back to the 2023 defence that we built that season off.
Just ignore those posts. Strongly get the feel there is a fair bit of devils advocacy going on.I honestly think people are missing the forest for the trees here, I get all the concern over attack, I would like to flog teams by 30 plus aswell.
