Not mad at that outcome.

The Eels thrashed the Roosters last week, have been on a roll with Moses back and they played that same style against us to last week.

We nearly clinched it, being down 20 - 4, shows the grit a patience of the boys instead of dropping their heads. Addo-Carrs first try was a bit of luck to them against the play, he scores that 9 times out of 10 regardless of who they play with that space and speed, unfortunate it happened against us but they had the luck.

Come finals, teams will likely be playing a strict, grinding. No risk brand of footy which suit us and what we've been doing all year. To lose close this week playing our style against a team with a team having nothing to lose isn't the end of the world

Said during the week last week how JAC has done exactly what he did so many times against us and their speed in the backline, turns out their second rower had some pace to make a break too. Always need to be on guard with them. Think Webster was spot on before the game where he said eels would be a top 8 team with a healthy Mitchell Moses all year. Might sound harsh but the call I was most angry with was Doorey falling to his knees after the play the ball. He’d obviously taken a hit to the head but to the letter of the law he did exactly what Ford and JFH have been penalised for all year. I heard Gough say it would be exactly the same for you when JFH was asking the question, but I’m not entirely sure about that? This year I’m at a point where I have to leave the room on a captain’s challenge or any going through slow mo in clearing a try because of my frustration when something is called completely contradictory to what I’m seeing

I actually thought the refereeing was good for the most part.. I much prefer a 50/50 no call than an Adam Gee style finding reasons to blow the whistle..

In saying that I'm fully with Wayne Bennett that the bunker should be scrapped.

Scrutinising every try looking for a reason not to allow it seems to be counter productive.

I'd throw the captains challenge in the same wheelie bin as the bunker. Empower the refs to make calls knowing that their call will stand and roll with the old school "benefit of the doubt to the attacking team." Video ref available for the on field official to consult if they're unsure.

The extra use of technology gives the feeling that every call should be perfect. They won't be. There's too much ambiguity in the game for every decision to be black and white, I'd rather back the refs on the park and be done with it.
Agree. Scrap the bunker

However it made a big improvement in cricket. IMHO. Before DRS low ranked teams got sawn off. Maybe cricket has more definitive tools. Rugby league bunker reviews boil down to eyesight.

Just wondering what’s been shown of the Vaimauga interview in Aussie? Because he did say he touched the ball, but he said directly following that that he thought he was facing backwards. Don’t think anyone is questioning whether he touched the ball, it’s if there’s enough evidence to overturn the on field decision that a try has been given and the ball travelled forward. Onwards and upwards

So the conversation has shifted from “he didn’t touch it” to “he touched it with enough force to propel the ball backwards”. I just think it was unfortunately a brilliant decision from the bunker.

Brilliant is quite the descriptive word.

Which way were his hands facing?

It's contentious because it needed how many replays to spot the touch

and even then he's facing our goal line and his not conclusive at all the play traveled forward into the Parra player.

If anything the inconsistencies around knock on's in RL are ruled create situations like this.

I don’t think we need either of them tbh. I think Charnze could be a handy winger if he had to be in the team, like a Brian To’o type. Egan is done imo, we have young fast hookers waiting in line who’d do a better job for the team.
Agree on Egan for now. What CNK does is keep Demi, Leka and the rest of the middles fresh. I agree he is stifling the attack, but that's because our attack is shit. He was still at FB when we started racking up points so he's not that much of a handbrake.

The issue we have is we cant switch from grind to attack. We were still doing 1 out running in the last 5..

Some of our experienced guys have some terrible play the balls. Though CNK, RTS, Capewell in particular were lucky not to get pulled up a few times.

The young guys manage to get their foot to it or at least close when they miss.

Some of the older guys are a real threat for a roll ball penalty.
Saw a lot of leg lifts that have been penalized all season go unpunished too.

His fingers moved in a way entirely consistent with the ball hitting them & there was no evidence of the ball shifting direction. It’s a knock on. Brilliant probably not the right word to use, but it was 100% the right call & a difficult one to make.

I'm not sure it's conclusive the "ball shifting direction" was forward though. His swiping action in the contest was his hands facing backwards.

To say it's brilliant and /or 100% correct is a bit dubious.

To Demetric's credit he handled the situation really well in the post match. Much better than me post game.

Can’t find the footage but this is exactly what he said. Just pointing that out, not taking away from the bunker’s brilliance

Rough on Egan, he's been good all season for the most part. Definitely his poorest game yesterday with some basic mistakes.

Healey is a great runner but his passing game is lacking. I don't understand how though its a teachable skill.
