The Dally M is a crock of shit. It's based off vibes.

Atleast the 'Hard Earned Index' is based off a consistent formula.

The only reason I paid attention this year is because Ford leading it was hilarious.
I do care who wins the Dally M and I would be super proud if a Warrior won it. But my level of emotional investment in it is 0.5 out of 10. I will not be bothered if one of our players "deserves to win it" but is pipped at the post by someone less deserving.

Go with how you feel, @Wrighty, but I'd like to throw some things your way as I find your posts insightful.

How would you invisage picking 'who deserves to win it'?

Taking a step back; how does anyone compare the individual performance of a halfback, with the individual performance of a prop. Isn't this a bit apples and pears?

Man, does he even count? We seemed to wait games and games for him to get into clear space and apart from the Elliott "posts, posts" break it didn't happen.

Plenty of highlights at reserve grade though including the try celebration lowlight.
I think so....there was one game in particular against the Roosters where he played full back and scored a couple of length of the field tries.

He had elite top end speed. He was just made of glass unfortunately.

I don't know - it's mainly relatively easy to say who was 'best on field' no matter the position they play ... Erin probably was the other night ... the way they should do it is via individual ratings for every player... can be cumulative and complete that way

League is pretty weird in that the most influential player can practically come from almost any position, depending on the way a game plan is set up and how it plays out with the opposition ... something to be celebrated about the code (wingers are probably the hardest to make a case for, but it is possible even from there)

I love the fact our current prop rotation consists of:
1. Current Kiwis captain
2. Current Australian and origin player
3. One of the best up and coming prospects in the last decade who is finally reaching that experience level needed in the NRL
4. The current leader of the Dally M

Certainly all round much better than the Lachlan Burr, Kane Evans, JTB, Lodge, tohu harris/AFB rotations of the past where we saw a significant falloff once lodge/AFB/tohu would come off.
its our best rotation ever I reckon, better than Mutts, Lillyman, Rapira and Packer too.

This, I could accept.

I will always believe that comparing a halfback with a prop is stupid. But, make the voting pool bigger and do something like this.
I hold a lot more stock in this
Than the Dally M awards. For some of the scoring I would be fairly sure the Dally M judges just watched the highlights.

They have the award to SJ, that’s the real indicator from players pov
