Team List Warriors v Dolphins - [Round 22, 2025]

The contrarian in me thinks it's irresponsible for the coaches to play Lussick at Prop. He just not physically built for that position. I'm not questioning the kid’s toughness, but we need someone who can smash those hard yards up the middle (not the other way round), and he’s just not it.
Maybe he is there as back up hooker as there is no way Healey is experienced enough to play 80 minutes. But it is suss as fuckery Lussick is named at 16 which is a middles spot rather then being named at 17 where the back up hooker is named usually. I suspect we will see him both at hooker and at prop.

Isn't the backup hooker traditionally at 14? I wouldn't get too caught up in the numbers. Healey unlikely to go 80.

Or the young hooker is making a debut

Hoping our spine shocks them, perfect chemistry of youth, speed, boredom and experience

More worried about Marata and Ford getting bent in the middle from the start, but Dolphins pack shouldn’t be too elite?

14 is either utility or back up hooker you are correct. The other position is 17 for a back up hooker. I have never heard of back up hooker at 15 or 16 - those positions are always bench forwards.

Regarding this advice "I wouldn't get too caught up in the numbers" what else do you want me to base a post on given it is Wednesday night before the match. I think the numbers on the bench are absolutely relevant although as you say not a strong predictor.

Given our backs are against the wall i have more hope of us winning this match than last week. I posted all last week we would lose. The Warriors need certain players evicted from the club. We need a psychological test. For years our club takes victories for granted when we play teams beneath us. The Black caps are the opposite. We virtually never lose to the likes of Ireland or Scotland while England loses all the time.
The worst Warriors loss ever was Jahrome Luai's debut 7 years ago. Penrith were missing like a Billion players due to origin and our players clearly from the look on their faces and their play in the match thought the bus just had to get to the game on time and we would win. We got thumped instead. At no point have the Warriors evolved or progressed into a professional side that can pump a bottom a team.
The Warriors really aim up when we the odds are against us. I am predicting a hell of a performance this week where we play like Giants. I can see us winning because Fish is out not in spite of him.

I like it

The siege mentality lets play the victim the whole world is against us approach used by Queensland in SOO. You have to be batshit crazy like a queenslander but it just might work!

Ashamed to say it was some guy on Facebook!
We're so fucked - hope that's not true... edit at 1:39 here is ominous https://www.warriors.kiwi/news/2025/07/31/webster-ive-seen-us-play-worse-and-win-this-year/

Lots of slight rumours spilling over this week, like Taine training at fb, Freddy still limping etc. - the 1-17 has to be changing... going to hope we get something to be excited about, another debut ... would love to see EIT out there - then again we're already getting a preferred combination in the halves, genuinely should be better with the TMM / Boyd set up (no slight on CHT, it's all about complementary styles)
