General Warriors or Wahs?

lol such a fun thread, shows everyones passion and ingenuity. pretty sure all us old buggers remeber seeing this all before, like when the warriors were playing under Cleary, or earlier like when Cleary was playing for the warriors.
love the hype train, enjoy the ride, because the only thing thats gauranteed is that it will be over before you know it.

up the WAHs!!

Have great fondness for the 02/03 era probably felt more like we can/should win the NRL during that time compared to begrudgingly admitting we are a pretty outside chance this year with 2 teams clearly better.
2011 felt more like a massive run of luck to me

whatever your preference, it all leads to our team…WARRIORS 100 PERCENT!!! No one needs to be that guy or gal who becomes the kill joy fun police to say choose 1. Through adversity and joy, we are 1 in being passionate about our team regardless of what happens. I love our club. No other club has fans like our team…I mean, no other team has played away and had their fans out vocal the home team like ours. We are Warriors worldwide…NRL fcuked up in leaving us out in the Vegas games…instead, they are going with the grub teams 🤦‍♂️🤣

How about now? as Harvey Keitel said in National treasure after the declaration of independence was stolen and the F.B .I ignored Nicholas Cage's tip off....

Up the Wahs has had its detractors, I was one the first time I heard Adam Blair say it in a Broncos Jersey.

Luke Metcalf was asked this week about the support the Warriors are getting, and he made it clear that SJ told him the up the Wahs movement changed the landscape of the Warriors like no other factor in the clubs history.

Just curious whether you old farts like me that hated it have come to realise how good it is for this club?

It has gone beyond being a catchy five minute phenomena, it has gone beyond being a tic tock viral thing of the month.

Up the Wahs is now a movement unique to the New Zealand psyche and culture, it is as Kiwi as G'dday is Australasian.

So have any of you old boys come down off your purist Warriors only high horses and smelled the coffee? Any converts want to confess to the rehab group meeting here?

You're regularly reaching back into the archive sup42, first the reacts after the vegas embarrassment, now this... suppose it will keep us honest ... [I never supported the Kane Evans signing btw, lol]

Yeah I am doing the look backs.

As a Warriors self appointed Pub Philosopher I find it helps to adopt a look back on what it means to be a Warriors supporter.

We have been through so much, much of it negative, for so long, that we risk being cynical to the point where we miss the best times in our lives as followers.

One thing I learned from the Daniel Anderson era is that the worst of times for the Warriors can become the best of times, and I also learned that it is easy to miss the significance.

And yet again here we are, We seem to be living in a Daniel Anderson flash back, and yet again fans seem at risk of missing what is so special about the turn around.

When Anderson came here he was a school teacher no one had heard of, the Warriors were at their lowest ebb, and Anderson would not have got a gig anywhere else in the NRL.

Webster when he was signed was a nobody assistant and we signed him because in all honesty, apart from Geoff Toovey no one wanted to come here, even our last coach Nathan Brown didn't actually want to coach us, he did it as a favor.

And yet Fans have been hypercritical of Webster in the two and a bit years he has been here, there is even a stupid sack him thread in the ether somewhere.

I guess my flash backs are an attempt to create the same come to Jesus revelation I had in the year 2001.....I wish I could relive that year again....I was so negative....I ended on such a high....even though we got flogged game one in the finals....it was the best Warriors year of my life, even better than 2002 for sheer miracle save me Jesus good vibes.

In brief I believe we are living through one of the best years that we will have in our lives this season and that it is happening right now and the best way I can illustrate that is to remind people of where they were and what Andrew Webster has done to bring us to where we are now.

I know that is a lot of waffle and hyperbole but let me simplify this to one metric that makes Webster unique.

In 2023 Webster introduced defensive steel to the lazy defence of the Warriors.

In 2024 he was undermined by internal politics.

In 2025 Webster got the Warriors back on track as defensively tough competitors.

No Warriors coach has done that, not one of our coaches has brought this club back from a decline into slackness and made us tough despite a season where there were dressing room issues.

At the Warriors once the rot starts for a coach it is game over. Sacked. New coach.

Webster has broken that mold and I think we need to look back to truly appreciate how special what we are seeing now truly is, thus the flashbacks.

I like this.

I was walking to the bus the other day and a car slowed down, a kid popped his head out the window and gave me a hearty 'up the wahs'

I didn't ever realize I had my wahs hat on, as it's become second nature for me for grab it before I leave the house.

'Up the Wahs' has ingrained rugby League into everyday talk. Everyone knows what it is, and the players know that they are supported, so long as everyone's still yelling it out of car windows.

It wasn't that long ago when you'd be mocked for supporting our beloved club.

Now it's a positive talking point.
