Interesting listening to that bit on Metcalf that the initial offer was $900k per season and that offer was pulled when he picked up his latest injury. Would expect to see somewhere in the eight hundred thousands that sees him extend? That’s about right I reckon
Which is about where most had thought an offer would or should be. I think it's a sensible one. Be interesting to see the number of years offered. Two would be a good number I would think

Just hope Cleary is ready next year because our other halves won't take us to the final if he gets injured again

Linnane will get a shot first you'd think. Was supposedly close to first grade ready before his injury. Hansen could even be ahead at this stage if he stays beyond this year.

Can understand the TMM re-signing. 2 halves coming off injury and Boyd. An extra option doesn't hurt.

Cleary still has a while to go, but yeah I agree that Boyd doesn’t have what it takes to get and keep a team in the top 4 and TMM looks like he’s a utility going forward
I was thinking of great halves that injuries ruined their career and number 1 is Te maire Martin! He was so fast for a half like Metcalf then injury destroyed him, the fact he's still playing shows how tough he is!

Shows the type of person is to come back the way he has. I think he’s now one of the best utilities in the game with the amount of positions he can cover to a reasonable to high quality. Thought he was all but gone only a few months ago and has shown a real resilience to work on positions he’s been asked fill and earn another season

There’s a bit of talk that Reuben Garrick won’t be offered another contract by manly. I’ve got real concerns for Berry and his career with how he’s picking up serious injuries constantly. If we were able to pick Garrick up for 2026, that would be ideal I reckon. Needs someone fit and to lead that kick chase that the right centre does and he kicks also

Take him now please for 2026-2028. 3 year deal

That would be a dream. Supreme goal kicker also.

I was interested to hear there could finally be a sprint off at the GF.

Imagine if every club has to put someone up, who would be ours?

After Friday night it could only be Capewah surely?:p

Would be a good initiative and could be that a club could put anybody from any grade up with young guys fast too. Pretty sure Kaeo Weekes is currently fastest with Bula second and HTF third

Yeah we're bound to have a flier down in the lower grades somewhere. Ive never seen him play but going from all the talk on here this Kali is quick yeah? Ive seen bits of this Norris dude......he looks a goer.

Nine hundred thousand first offer is exactly where you would have expected.

The Warriors knew at that time that they were going to have to pay at least a million for Metcalf.

Even though fans struggle with that reality. He is a million dollar player, and opening negotiations at 90% of that mark when he was fully fit proves that point.

What the Warriors would not have wanted was to pay too much more than a Million ergo starting offer nine hundred thousand, still close enough to a million not to scare the guy away from the negotiating table.

And yes, offering less after injury is just being practical, but I bet if Metcalf came back with a demand for at least 900k the Warriors would privately be happy to pay it.
