Boyd would be horrible - c'mon guys, we're not that desperate.

The halves situation has to be addressed, sure, but show me the problem that Boyd is the answer to and I'll show you a club has 99 more ...

LM really wants the gig we know that ... not convinced ... but with SJ and SJ (two greats in the position) and Webby sitting in your backroom you'd hope there are a few other answers we're not seeing right now
Here is the off contract 2026 half backs and stand offs - you tell me who is better than Boyd and we would have a chance at

This is from Zero Tackle so don't blame if some of these guys signed last week

Halfback

Jake Arthur, Daniel Atkinson, Tanah Boyd, Daly Cherry-Evans, Jake Clifford, Tom Duffy, Kyle Flanagan, Jackson Hastings, Bailey Hayward, Drew Hutchison, Lachlan Ilias, Sean O'Sullivan, Jonah Pezet, Niwhai Puru, Adam Reynolds, Brad Schneider, Toby Sexton, Blake Taaffe, Chad Townsend, Braydon Trindall, Sam Walker

Five-eighth

I'm not even saying that recruitment is the answer but of that halves list (and yeah there are a few not available) Atikinson, Pezet or Puru would be twice the better option than Boyd

If he came here it would be a big call but I think they would give him the Game one 7 jersey and TMM would miss out.
Remember TMM played cup the first 6 games of 2024 with SJ and Metcalf preferred over him.
Yeah that’s true early on in the season but as it went on SJ was given the jersey on what he did last season. As inruin said, TMM could be be out for the beginning of the season, but I don’t think we can forget that TMM was halfback in a win over the panthers and the best we looked all season. He’s also a Kiwi international, although at five eighth but he gets the halfback jersey before Boyd if he came over for me

Puru extended with sharks for a season

Boyd would be a desperation signing that we'll regret.
"He can kick tho" ! Whipdeedo! He does fuck all else. Rather get Ronald Volkman back

We need a 4th half and Charnze looked poor there on the weekend in the test.
If we don't acquire one, then after inevitable injuries we are looking most likely at a run of Dylan Walker in the halves and he is not a half's backside.
No it all says Puru has signed
Pezet seems to be all over the place in terms of what he wants. Some Bullshit about wanting to be loaned out from the Storm for a year before returning to replace Jahrome Hughes
Atkinson another 5 8th can he play half back?

Who are you suggesting instead of Boyd? I don't think there are many other options

Get Pezet on loan and he can go back to replace Hughes and he comes over. Might be getting on a bit by 2026 though?

Tannah Boyd has played 69 games - ten of those were zero minutes and one 8 minutes (those 11 this year)
Leaving 58 full games played
He has 18 Try assists and 9 Tries = 27 try creations
27/58 = 0.46

TMM = 93 Games
20 Tries and 37 try assists
57/93 = 0.61

CHT

67 appearances after subtracting some low minute games
11 Tries Try assists 20
31/67 = 0.46

Boyd would be as skilled as CHT offensively according to these try creation ratios but have a kicking game and goal kicking game.

It’s a big no for Boyd for me unless you are releasing CHT. He’s a backup half and we already have CHT who can do a job there.

The other backup half needs to be one with potential who can start over your two starters. Weaver might be worth a crack if he’s available, Boyd has had plenty of chances to crack it and hasn’t made the grade.

OK well explained. I will let this go for now.

I wonder if byod who seems to be stalling out in the titans. Is interested because of the reported way we pick positions at the start of every year. Which is pretty much try out over preseasons rather than hard set roles from the get go. And weighing up that or waiting on DCE to eventually retire (and that ain't happening till he outplays smith's total games... So 3 full seasons from now).

Playing for a markedly worse team & terrible pack when he was 7. Change of scene could be good. We need 4 halves too, so there’s a spot available.
