I went to primary school with Xavier, was bigger than all the year 8s as a year 3 lol. Would take him for sure
Realistically we arent going to get anything from AFB, theres nothing out there on the market, Gus and The Sombreros have pretty much bought everything up already. Put abit of money into some of our top level kiwi talent who would be inclined to come home then try to rebuild that pack once tohu retires. yes go for a saifiti etc if they are there but again its a temporary solution to a bigger problem which is pathways wont be fully running until 2026-2027, We do now with AFB going have a void to fill

Cheers mate

That would be huge, Saving 100-300k and getting a better leader with premiership winning experience, with the potential getting back to 2010s form

With Webbys track record already, he could damn well hit career best form even

Love it.
2016 form ideally when he shared dally m with Cronk, lock of the year 2018 too. Sometimes a change of scenery can be huge and the styles of Payten opposed to Webster is chalk and cheese.

Best case scenario would be to workout a plan that allows him to spend more time in Sydney while still contracted to us. Either extra days after games or a straight 6 month sabbatical.

Next best would be to release him immediately for the 2024 season. He can go be with his parents and play for whichever club he wants, on the condition he comes back for the 25 and 26 seasons. This would allow us the opportunity to blood our youngsters.

Failing that, I'd go after JT for 650k with the cowboys paying the remaining 350k as freight. The remaining 450k from AFBs contract plus the money we had set aside for another prop should get us another quality player.

Edit: apologies haven't been following the forum just saw the news after work, just went back 10 pages and saw his mother is sick. My bad.

If that's actually the case, then it sucks but what can we do except demand Fisher Harris as compensation and a gauranteed premiership next season. Anything less will not suffice.

best case scenario i can think of is JT to us( cowboys chipping in 300-400) and trade afb with tigers for ice (1.1m to 600k)
This is the way I’m thinking.
If we could get an elite forward who’s on the outter like taumalolo or failing that maybe saifiti while simultaneously opening discussions with Sydney clubs for a trade for someone around that 500,000- 700,00 mark- for example> tigers, ice- manly, sipley- sharks, bhu- roosters, may… shake the tree and see who falls out.
With afb and currans money we could afford it.
Usually trades are unlikely but whichever club afb goes to is gonna need to release someone to fit him in so it’s not as far fetched this time around.
In Afb we’re holding a massive card- just need to play it right.

There is no signing that will fill the void a top 2 prop in the league would leave, absolutely filthy on him.
To be fair it fluctuates, Haas has been the only one who’s backed up year upon year. Last year was Haas and Tapine, 2021 was Haas and JFH. This year was the best AFB has looked in some time, he’s been top 5 over those other years but with the amount of players that have gone to another level this year at the Warriors I think it’s more than just AFB having a good season.

AFBs gone and his mind won’t want to b here if we make him stay.
I like the JT heading this way option if we can make it work but if AFBs going to a Sydney team, then we can def deal with certain clubs and refuse to release him to others. No difference to us not letting Walsh go to Dolphins.

Roosters and Dragon’s have both been mentioned. Roosters have players I’d take but Drags don’t. Manly have recently freed up prop/cap space so guessing they’re a legit option as well. I’d send him to Roosters or Manly and then swap for 2x props on the up. We’re not getting anyone’s gun prop in an exchange deal. I’d take these 2 from Manly in a heart beat.

Roosters
Nafau White. 21yrs. 192cm. Auck. (‘24)
Terrell May. 24. 183cm. Syd. (‘24)
Siau Wong. 20. 187cm. Otahuhu. (‘24)

Manly
Tof Sipley. 28. 190cm. Pt Chev. (‘25)
Taniela Pasaka. 26. 197cm Otahuhu. (‘26)

Release AFB and buy JT on freight and the starter Saifiti

Release Jazz if we need to

Or JT + Terrel May?

It sucks but if you’re a recruitment general manager you now have all the cards to command a blockbuster deal with multi teams

If he’s such a cunning prick throwing the club under the bus in the media, it might be a blessing to have other power players who don’t create dressing room drama going forward
