Here is a more recent Youtube compilation of Toby Crosby over the last couple of years. As he is a Greytown boy who boarded at St. Pats Stream - suspect Rocco Berry had a role in getting him to trial. Top tryscorer in Wgtn Club Rugby last season, but just couldn't get a look into the provincial side.

FLANNO ADDRESSES VOLKMAN FIASCO

Dragons head coach Shane Flanagan says he and the club aren’t “pointing fingers at anyone” regarding the unfortunate situation involving Ronald Volkman.

The emerging playmaker requested a release from the Warriors two years before the conclusion of his contract to link up with the Dragons.

While the Dragons announced the signing publicly, the club hadn’t registered it with the NRL.

Hence, they were able to pull out of the deal after the Dragons medical team discovered Volkman’s shoulder needed surgery.

Flanagan told The Daily Telegraph there is a lot to learn from the situation and that the “club won’t shy away” from that.

“I feel sorry for the young bloke. He’s hurt himself. He didn’t pass his medical, it’s unfortunate ... as a club we had to protect ourselves,” Flanagan said.

“We did the right thing, we got all the scans and found out he needs to have surgery. He injured himself at the Warriors.

“In all my time I’ve never had a player fail a medical.

There are a lot of learnings from it. The club won’t shy away from that. We sent the kid to get the best medical scanning and testing.

“All clubs will learn from this one. We definitely will.

“We’re not pointing the finger at anyone. Facts are facts. He injured himself at the Warriors, he needs surgery.

“We have history on players, he had had a shoulder reconstruction ... but to look at the scans, he didn’t just fail (the medical) a little bit, he had two screws pulled out.”

Dragons CEO Ryan Webb says the club will be “cautious” when to go public with signing news in the future.

“We didn’t follow anything different than what we would have in the past,” Webb said.

“And we didn’t have any reason to be overly cautious based on the information we had (from the Warriors).

“In the end the position that we go too, would have been the same, he failed the fitness test. It was really clear from us that, you pass the medical and you’ll be signed.

“He didn’t pass the medical so he’s not one of our players.”

Pretty sure he was coaching the sharks when Jack bird had dramas around a medical when he went to the broncos from sharks?

Just to add, it was a similar situation but Flanagan really pulled a swiftly with not mentioning bird needed a full reconstruction when he went to broncos. Difference here is Volkman’s manager got him a release and he was essentially a free agent when dragons picked him up meaning they should get their own medical report, any decent club would anyway. So Flanagan’s claim of never having a player fail a medical only is because he never passed the info on to broncos, which they found out when they signed him. Broncos did the right thing by bird and rehabilitated him and held onto him.
