Gold Coast were very poor from about 10 minutes onwards. Looked like Des had got them studying DWZ defensive plays and they got confused thinking that's how they should defend on their right edge. Very pleased for RTS tonight Deserves the double, been our best this season with EC. Hoping this builds some confidence in the side. Eels next week will be another step up and then Manly away another one. Ideally that builds us in to the finals.

One thing I'm unsure of is whether TMM is the right man for 14. CHT is locked in to 6 and rightfully so. Tannah looked better tonight but it was the Gold Coast, wooden Spooner's. I don't feel like he will create enough for us but his goal kicking is a real advantage. With TMM on the field at the same time as those two there is potential to move around positions and create a little more. CHT got tackled going for the line and we then switched back the other way for Martin to play make putting on a nice short ball for Leka in the gap then quickly in to dummy half to put EIT over for his first try. Those short balls to Leka, Labon, Ali earlier in the season, even Pompey putting them in to gaps is what I have been wanting to see all season. TMM also covers a wide range of positions. Thing is, I think Healey offers way more as a genuine bench hooker and I think would have had more spark with the front foot ball we had tonight. Nice position to be in I guess with a genuine squad of players.

The test will be whether we can improve against better opposition in the coming weeks or whether that's about our level tonight.

Well he is first pick centre cos he's the only centre left standing. Seriously, he's had a pretty good year, not spectacular as far as centres go, but does the job required of him. 2025 is his best year for try-scoring too, 10 so far which is double his previous best.
RTS seemed happy to have him back when he said after the game that he reckons their left edge is the best in the comp in his opinion

lol saw the highlight and TMM gave 2 consecutive passes to give EIT his career first try 😂

Voss and Brandy were absolutely insufferable the entire game. They were so desperate for the Titans to win, and were in complete denial that we're in the top 4.

Suck it losers.
Amazing how some people hear things so differently and seem to think everyone has it out for them. I can't remember once a game called by Vossy which he has been biased in any way for any team. If anything he has been a great proponent for the Warriors over the years. The fact someone can listen to that and think he wants the other team to win says more about the person that thinks that.

If you take offense to a commentator calling out something as shit when a team is playing shit or makes bad plays - harden up - it happens to every team and I'd rather have honesty than someone blowing smoke up my ass.

I heard that and thought I'd listen to it.

3 minute press conference on the NRL site.

If it is what I watched he didn't go off at the refs. Said they were poor and made too many mistakes. Complimented us. Said Kini might start next week but they are slowly introducing him.

The closest he went off was at the end when asked about David Fafita.

Basically said this isn't the platform to answe that. He's signed for 2026 and this isn't the platform to talk about recruitment.
that journo was so out of line. Wouldn't have blamed Des if he went after him but he didn't. So nothing really.

Serious question. Did we miss Jackson Ford?

p.s I’m extremely pissed, expect Wrighty, Beastmode and Sup to defend our position
Eddie picked up the slack, without the brain farts didn’t know he had such a big motor on him, add in his ball skills and speed, I think he’ll keep his spot. I think Tanner will be the one to drop out once Jackson’s back. Don’t know if I’d go that way.
Eddie and Demi as our bench props is exciting stuff

So who does ford come in for, when he’s available? I know he has some haters but he’s in our best 17, no doubt. Just reduce his mins. For mine, EIT just jumped the pecking order & marata despite having an ok game, slid down. Youthful energy could be our point of difference going into finals, lean into the pressure. These kids are different.
I think either Tanner or Marata. I hope Webby keeps Eddie in the middle as well and Fatialofa next in line for an edge spot

Best thing about this year regardless of how things end up.

Leka, Demi, TSS, Laban, EIT, Healey...

You wouldn't expect teams to be developing that many rookies in one season and still manage to be competing for top 4.

Good signs for the future.
Probably the most underrated aspect of our year. We took a punt in fielding one of the greenest rosters in the comp for this year. Yet despite losing basically half of it through the season, we are still in the box seat for the top 4.

To take perspective, Parra are probably the only other team who took the same risk of moving on their dad's army and blooding their juniors. They are barely out of the wooden spoon race yet NRL pundits just can't get enough of Ryles. Yet not a peep about what Webby has done with our juniors.

Caught the late viewing as I went out boozing.

EIT looked great. Stoked for him with his first try, but also looked very comfortable.
Berry - looked great. Some strong runs and looked great on the kick chase. Hope he's okay.
Roger - absolute champ. One of the form wingers of the comp. Simply huge.

CHT and Boyd were great, lead the team well, and everyone else pretty much chipped in where needed.
I thought TSS was busy as a starter.

Would probably prefer him starting , with Ford coming on after 30 minutes or so. Means less minutes for Ford and only uses one interchange.

Overall, much happier with how I thought we'd go.

Fuuuuuuuck yeeeah!

Looks like Marata has been given a life line with the long minutes he is playing.

So that leaves TSS vs EIT.

To my eye and overall sense of things, EIT edges out Tanner because he is more versatile, probably has a bigger motor, makes good meters and being a back rower he has more lateral movement in defence.

Also EIT as we have seen is a little bit classy as an attacking player.

Next year is going to be very interesting with Barnett back and Gannon on the books.

We’re in the top 4. Can’t miss the finals now. Beat the eels at home and we’re almost guaranteed the 4. Having berry back made us solid on defence. We’re in the game. That team could have tested the raiders, maybe storm and panthers…keep building and we could get two plus weeks in the finals….best to come from JFH, CNK better at fullback. Gave them an A given the importance of the win. Lessssssgooooo!

Serious question: how many fans do the tits actually have? Granted we have a lot of kiwis living on the GC, but it is still pretty embarrassing to be outnumbered by the away team. Have a Newcastle friend who went to GC to see them play the Knights earlier in the year and he said the Knights fans outnumbered them then as well.
