Sport is cruel.
The last few years we have had a lot of injuries in our halves. When Johnson came back Metcalf and TMM were rotating injuries to partner the veteran.
Metcalf finally got an opportunity last year and couldn't see out the season.
Boyd since he arrived has been resilient. He gets an opportunity and takes it. Earns a long term contract. Gets what looks likely to be a long term injury the week Metcalf decides to move on.

My main frustration with what happened this week has been how fast this happened.
Not him sorting out his future. Glad it was sorted and we can move on.
More that he came back from his ACL injury and didn't last two games. He has only just came back for selection. Most people would understand it is tough changing a winning team.
It would have been good to see him play a few weeks and push his case. I know people like Johnson have said he is above NSW Cup. I agree long term he is. Walker came back for the Roosters last year via Cup. It is fine for a few weeks to get your timing. Coming straight back in to a team that is winning is a big call.
I know we now have the benefit of hindsight due to todays injury. But it also shows that over a long NRL season there will be injuries and an opportunity. Here we are the end of the same week and there is now an opportunity at 7.
It is what it is. One thing I have liked under Webster. The club plays with the hand it is dealt and move on.
