Aren't you doing the same to DallyM Metcalf?

DallyM shouldn't be used as an argument for a player being better either IMO. It's clear there is a lot of bias and ill judged results in that.

It's a similar pack to last season albeit our youth have another season under their belts. The difference in play and organization this season versus last season is quite stark. Certainly not down to just Boyd, and still a long way to go but at this point in time replacing Boyd with Metcalf would be a mistake as far as I'm concerned. I'm in the LM to 6 camp where his x factor can be utilized without the burden of learning on the go how to play 7. Boyd at 7 because he is tge best actual true 7 we have. . That's a bit of a bummer to CHT with how he has played over the last year and a bit, but I feel him at 14 would be best for the team.

Hell, Metcalf could breakdown again after a handful of games anyway.
I really dislike the "this is the same pack as last season" argument. We look 10x fitter than we did last season and everyone is just playing much better. Feels like a totally different beast. Now combine that fittness with a change in 6 again rules where for certain infringements beyond the 20-metre line, the tackle count will restart, replacing the current 40-metre threshold. Then you've got a recipe for exactly what happened in 2021 with the panthers and storm. Fit teams absolutly destorying unfit teams, making them look undeciplined as they fail to wrestle back any momentum.

This IMO has made boyd look like a super star. Because he is always given a chance to play into a very tried, frustrated team at some point. And when he does, he scores. Where he never really got that chance last year, as we never overpowered teams quite like we have this year. He has shown the capacity to do this even at the titans. And what else can you ask from him honestly. Sure he hasn't proven to win games when we aren't by far the fitter team in peak "Vlandysball" era. But he deserves the opptunity again to do so. If the other teams catch up to our level of fittness (outside of the panthers).

To preface: Even if i think metcalf is a better half. Boyd and CHT belong as our 7 and 6 until proven otherwise and metcalf can stay in NSW until an injury lets him back into the team. You simply cannot break up a spine that is not losing. Disruption needs to be keept to a minimum.

Surely Metcalf plays 6 when he comes back in and Tanah stays at 7. Would not even mind Tanah playing 6 with what he showed of his running game at the weekend.

I like the idea of two ball playing half's and those two should both be starting ahead of CHT when everyone is fit.

The big question is will Metcalf be ok with playing 6 and letting Boyd keep the reigns especially when he initially comes back from injury. Not sure how that dynamic will play out.

As others have said other clubs will be coming for Tanah 100% if he keeps up this level.

We have way too many good half options with Hansen, Jett, Inch, CHT etc. We can't keep all of them.
And isn't this a brilliant position to be in? Less of the "Well, we have to pick him, even though he's playing naff, because who else is there?" scenarios. Part of that being the historic lack of decent pathway systems (having players playing in the Bartercard Cup etc).

The Warriors have signed/promoted players because of the situation today. And then comes tomorrow.

Would I like us to promote Jett and for him to outshine Nathan? ABSOLUTELY! But I'm fine if situations change and he's back off to Straya.

Mr Boyd deserves the first call at 7 at present IMO. My admittedly conservative view is actually to have Metcalf at 14 for his first two/three games back. Not over do his re-entry given AIUI his ACL history...

Agree right to the end. Not making comparisons here but there are plenty of players that should come straight in back from injury. Any state of origin player for example. Just cause you win doesn't mean changes can't make you better.

Yeah never liked this don't change a winning team thing....how did Barnett and Niukore go in the last game for example? Metcalf must come straight back in.

You would have to weigh up the opposition at the time, I wouldn't bring Metcalf back against storm or Panthers atm.
Also if we beat a genuine top 4 side before Metcalfs return I'd argue that Metcalf mustn't come straight back in.

Sure but this is the spine we are talking about. Can happly have any player come in for most positions. But when it comes halfs that have had 0 games togther, next to no practice togther. And therefore you'd have on one side a clunky metcalf, who would have to take a major back seat. Against a already very good CHT who gels prefectly with boyd. This is without getting into the debate over CHT IMO having the best short kicking game in the team by a mile, and a left boot.

Swapping non spine members is always much easier.

we’re at a point where dropping Boyd is a more ballsy decision than keeping him now 😂

So Webby just unlocked in Foran’s words “a gun Australian schoolboy half” and we have a speedster soon to pair with him, and the backup is CHT a top 10 try assist half last year and looked like leveling up again. We need this to topple penrith and storm, just play the cards right Webby. You can do it!

If we beat both Penrith and Melbourne without him then you might have a point. Otherwise he's a player to me who must come back, like Barnett honestly.....these are our best players we are talking about.....well before Boyd and Ford went god mode anyway.....still, we need to fit him in, even if it's at 6

Yeah you're right and like Webster said on Friday the selection will sort itself out and don't look too far down the track. So good to have some genuine depth there too,

I’d put the returning stars on the bench until injuries, form drop or when other teams work us out then we change it up, leave plan b in our pocket if the current ultra successful plan doesn’t work. Would be interesting to see how Boyd goes if it got tense against the storm etc in the last 10

I'm convinced, Tanah is our 007. Luke can be 006. Sorry Chanel, back to hooker Moneypenny.

Metcalf even at his best looked like a 1 or a 6 shoehorned in at 7, don’t get me wrong he was unreal. But peak Boyd is better at 7 than peak Metcalf. Webby summed it up perfectly though, it’s not a decision we need to make yet. A week in footy is a long time let alone 3 weeks. We have tigers, Sharks and Storm.. could be 2 losses in a row and we will be pining for Metcalf back in OR we’ve just knocked Storm off and Metcalf has no choice but to play 6 with TB
