Why was the site down "too many redirects"?

Update to the server - to enable blocking of spam accounts/threats. Couple of other improvements made at the same time which should result in faster pages with the usage of most of the site data being cached in browser etc.

FYI, these are number of potential threats the server has to go through, and thats just part of just today. The aim is to slowly block countries where these originate. I know whilst most of the visitors are from NZ, AUS, US, UK, theres also some from asia. A few countries where theres lots of malicious visitors which scan the site i.e. Russia etc will be blocked so that number in time will come down.


The other reason was updates made for emails that the site sends through - this has been disabled/blocked especially to gmail accounts for watched contents/conversations etc since last year. Unfortunately wasnt able to get that sorted out so there may be some additional downtime during the offseason to resolve that.

Anytime the site detects an adblock a penalty is applied. If you whitelist it and dont use an adblocker it will be fine (after penalty is served). If you turn it on and off, you will be penalised each time.

If you ha e whitelisted and still getting it, then pm me with a screenshot of the front page.

Btw when i say adblock, it also includes disabling scripts, using dns blocking or vpn. Resouces on site are prioritised for users who do the right thing by the site.

Thats fine - You can use it, seen your logs they are fine. There are other types of VPNs which stop scripts from loading which would automatically get an error.

Lol. When the mechanic told me he couldn't do the wheel alignment after fitting and balancing my new tyres because the lower control arm bushings were worn, I said thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Why? What is happening? Tech Speak.
When the site received the hack last year, the forum database was deleted by the hackers. Its been found that they had also deleted fundamental server accounts as well, its been rather fortunate we have been operational for the past year whilst these accounts did not exist. Only when the guys commissioned to update the webserver applications started checking it out they noticed these missing. Its not a security risk, but at the same time, the site is essentially running in 'safe mode'. A newer server with all the required components is being built and the site will be copied over to it in the coming days hence the reason for the downtime.

This has all been done now.

Just a FYI, mail server is all setup again as well. This may mean you will get emails for threads you are 'watching'.

You can turn these off if you dont want to get such emails. The place to update them is in your user account preferences section:

This means that people who have forgotten their password, and want to reset, will also now get emails, when conversations are sent to them etc. This was previously an issue and no emails were being sent out.

Thanks for the email and screenshot. Ok there seems to be an existing issue with this. When you deselect/unticked the email notifications it doesnt seem to take into account previously watched content.

There are two options:
Via Email Link
1) Click the link at the bottom of the email received where it says "disable emails from this thread'.
When clicked it will take you to the site and give you the following options. Choose as you wish.




OR
Via Watched Thread List Link
1) Goto : https://nzwarriors.com/watched/threads/manage?state=watch_no_email
Click Proceed. (this will ensure you do not get any emails from watched threads)

Sorry there couldnt be a more elegant solution to this (really bound by the forum software in regards to this).

The second option replicates disabling email notifications for all watched threads
