Support Site Bugs / Feature Requests

are things slow for you as well as reported by some of the guys in the support thread?

the 20 mins ago was prob due to me changing a few things on the site to try to get them working. if you hit that again let me know

NZWarriors.com

It's still a bit laggy and slow for me
A lot of underlying data on this site has changed in the past week, so if its just recently become slow, itll most likely be due to your browser cache. I need anyone who reports slow issues to atleast:
1) try atleast two different browsers on the same device
2) try on wifi and mobile ph connection
3) reset cache

provide all this info and results of the above before asking for assistance.

@tajhay seems to be back to normal now on my phone using chrome. If anything changes I'll screen record and email to you. Thanks for all your help with this.

Just an update on the slowness issue. It appears that the problem is not related to the site itself but rather to DNS servers in NZ over the past few days. Further testing yesterday revealed that some DNS servers in New Zealand were either down or unreachable.

DNS servers are responsible for resolving web addresses and routing traffic across the internet via the closest points. For example, someone connecting from New York might route through DNS servers in NYC, USA → LA, USA → Auckland, NZ → Brisbane, AU.

The web server itself is located in Brisbane, AU. The DNS servers used is based on your own ISPs.

If people are still experiencing slowness, I will NEED the following tests done on their end. Without this information i cannot provide any assistance and requires me to look for a needle in a haystack and wastes a lot of time.
1) State which device (IOS/Android, Phone Model/Desktop)
2) State they have tested the site on the device that is slow on WIFI as well as mobile connection. Results.
3) State the browser they are using. Confirm that they have tested site on another browser on the device that is slow. Results.
4) Location
5) Confirm that they have tested an australian site i.e. news.com.au, couriermail.com.au. Results.
6) If you have a VPN, could you connect to a server in AU and try the site on same device, with the same mobile connection.

Aus based users would NOT be routed via NZ DNS Servers, as it makes no sense to go a longer route than needed. If there are any AU or Asia based users who are experiencing slowness, the information above would be appreciated too.

Edit - Yesterday NZ was red/DNS could not be resolved.

Getting thread post notification emails even though its turned off. Setting give an error " You must enter a valid value" There's no empty fields...

Sure it’s been said before but how do we block threads.

Super coach and fantasy league - great for those playing but not so much if we’re not 😀
Theres a few forum sections that can be blocked altogether for a variety of reasons. This means that ALL threads within those sections will no longer be visible to you. These forum sections are as follows:

Politics/Current Affairs
Other Sports
Social

To do so:
1) Goto your user account preferences https://nzwarriors.com/account/preferences
2) Select which of these sections (if applicable) you no longer want to have visibility of.

3. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

It will take 1-5 mins for the change to become active(some processes are run in the background) and you will no longer be able to see those threads. If you want to unhide those threads in the future, you follow the same steps but by unchecking any sections you had previously hidden.

@tajhay I'm really sick of the emails. The settings turned off and I still get them
did you read this? Its practically on this exact page just a few posts higher up...

If this still doesnt work, message me with a screenshot of the email you get.

Whilst you do that, try learning how to search. It would have been the first hit for even a simple term like 'emails'.

Would it be possible for the green down arrow (floating bottom right of screen) to jump to the last comment rather than the bottom of the page?
It is not easily possible unfortunately. I added the go to bottom of page jump button recently. Im curious actually. What is the use case of such a button in the first place?
1) Scenario you have already read the page i.e. no new posts on that page - What value is there to goto a random post at the bottom of a page you have already read?
2) Scenario - new posts on that page - why would you want to goto a random last post on that page. That would mean you would be missing other posts on that thread.

top of page i can understand as that is where all the navigational elements are, but why should the bottom of the page goto the last post on that page? i.e. what is the practical use case for this?

It’s not a major need, it’s more just if I ever use that button it would be to go to the last post. I don’t use it often, sometimes the new post feature doesn’t work, especially on old threads when they get revived at a later date - also sometimes there would be an old thread that I haven’t seen, but I only want to see the modern posts, and if there are a few pages of new posts it can take a while to find the cut off point.

It’s rare fringe cases, not a feature request, more just a suggestion if the jump point was easily set.

Oh so for the down button to goto the 'last new post'(which could be on a totally different page) rather than the last post on that current page?

so essentially a replication of 'jump to new' at the top of the page (if new posts exists)?

Nobody is reading this thread right now.
