Team List Redcliffe Dolphins v NZ Warriors - [Round 8, 2026]

Leka has been huge in that regard the last couple of weeks. He is pushing out really hard. It takes some of the energy away from his offensive game but the defensive line looks so stable
Honestly happy with that trade off. We have always been so easy to get an overlap against. Good trait to have for a rookie!

The beauty of that scenario is that we have attacking options on the right through Boyd, Leiataua, Laban (Niukore lead runner), Dallin.

Then we have middle strike with our props and lock all scoring tries this year.

Then both of our halves have been scoring tries as well.

RTS and AKP on the left too 🤣

I'm still annoyed Healey took the tackle on the last on the goal line. Taufua could debut tomorrow lol, Webby not mucking around

I think Healey has been pretty average. Hard to recognize in a winning team

I agree. To be fair, 2nd year syndrome can get the best of even the best players.

But yeah, deffo seems to be trying to hard on attack, looking for any excuse to run. Which is great and the run first mentality is dangerous, but youd have to say hes taken the wrong option more often than not. Still early days though

Still young tho, I back Webby to show him the way

he's also only been getting<20 minutes in most games. Think it's unfair to expect a rookie who is still learning his craft to bust open a game like a seasoned pro with that limited amount of game time. That being said, I think webby is doing the right thing easing him into first grade. He is progressing as he should be imo and showing some good moments (ie Raiders game) but also showing that he still needs development, especially in the passing and distribution skills level. He'll only improve with continued exposure to first grade.

Whose said anything about expecting anything?

Just said I feel hes taken the wrong option a few times and seems more focused on running. Which i dont think you would disagree with?

Yea he definitely hasn't been 'poor'. Just not his usual dangerous looking self. I like the idea of strong running hooker late in the game so there is still plenty of merit to his spot in the team.

I'm wondering if this is to give Taufua a run in case we need to run a Healey/Taufua combo later in the season in case Egan gets injured or another HIA.

Rotation policy is good while we're not under pressure

Egan's such a gun spine player when not fatigued, he could end up retire with us. I think by the time he starts to wane off it'd be after 2029 (33 y/o), Sam will be 27 by then, I think he's insurance policy for later but he's kinda stuck in between lol, our own junior hookers seem to be the right age to take over from Egan

I think his real strength is his speed around the ruck and running game which complements Egan's skillset well. Of course he has to pick his moments which comes with experience and I agree he does have a tendency to jump the gun sometimes. But I don't mind that he has the confidence to back himself when he sees an opportunity to run. It's only a matter of time before we see that combo with him, TT and Boyd we saw dominate cup start to create opportunities in the first grade side imo.

Our points differential with Healey on the park this year is +2 in his 140 minutes. +82 in the other 420 mins. No finger pointing but highlights the gap in class between him & Egan
are you surprised tho? Egan is a 100+ game veteran who has mastered his craft over several years whereas Healey has barely played 10 games (14 games in total) in his first full year of first grade. So it is to be expected that there is such a gap so that comparison is a bit unfair imo. Try comparing him with a more similar player in development status like Owen Pattie at the Raiders or Riley Smith at the Eels. I think he compares quite favorably when you do that. I think Healey is doing fine for where he is in his career.

Maybe the original plan was 3 years of Healey and he takes over from Egan who was concussed a lot during that scouting/signing period. Healey's chance is 2028 but Egan has fixed his tackling technique and also improving his vision with experience and will just turn 31 in 2028, I can't see Healey outplay him as a starter maybe until 2030 when Egan's 33 (Cook is 34 and still doing well), so his future with us is an insurance policy and regular 20min impact player for the next 3.5 years and then become our key spine starter for 5 years

I see our young hookers are 20/21 y/o so really they could be competing with Healey this whole time  They are in a way insurances for compassionate releases

Such a weak/pointless stat. You can't just pull something like that and suggest its on him.

+/- is a stat that is useful in any sport where not everyone plays the same duration.
I guess the whole, "no finger pointing" bit went over your head if you're feeling the name to leap to his defence
You give a stat clearly trying to state the drop in attack when he plays then say 'no finger pointing' lol.

Stats are all interlinked and will never be strong evidence of a good player. I.e only look at Ford's metres per game, but not factor in minutes played, meters per carry, what was our possession stats when he was on etc etc.
