New coach learning some harsh truths.
He will be better for the pressure of the management of injuries and the bs of the NRL when it comes to NZ.
And how to use a bench.
I'm excited by the rest of season and bringing some of new lads on.
We lost the season weeks ago.
it's only a game lads, don't link your mental health to what happens in this corrupt competition.

Probably a fair statement, when you see try's from AFB, Barney, Capewell, RTS....

If we didn't already know the result, you'd swear we destroyed them.

We monstered them.

We have been monstering teams all year for absolutely nothing - it's infuriating.

From the very first game of the season - nothing to show for it. (Look at these stats v Sharks!!)

20 unanswered points against Melbourne in Melbourne - nothing to show for it.

It is without doubt the strangest season I've ever seen from us.

I am sorry this needs to be said. Tuapiki's first drop under the high ball set the tone for the night.
RTS should be our full back before Taine. Catching high balls at full back is your job. Notwithstanding that RTS and Ali both left a short kick for each other to clean up resulting in a try.

Hey Wrighty I know you're new to league so I'll explain why I think this shouldn't be the case, from my point of view.

This is a knee jerk reaction, and won't serve us well in the long run if all we are doing is responding to each and everything thing that happens.

  • Ford was poor tonight? Drop him
  • Niukore let 2 tries in early? Drop him
  • Tuaupiki dropped the first ball of the night? Never to play FB again.
  • TMM and CHT had a 2 good games together? Drop SJ as he's shit.
  • Roger was quiet at centre? drop him.
These are things that at times this year many fans have been calling for, and I get it because it's usually after we've been poor, but if we were going to change everything we do (whether it's positive - keep a player in fg, or negative - drop or move a player) in a reactive way we're never going to build the consistency that we all want.
We need to understand WHY these things are happening.

Why was CHT doing all of the kicking?
Why did Niukore over commit in the 2 tackles leading up to their first 2 tries?
Why did both Roger and Ali hang back with that try in the end?

Some of these questions we won't know the answers to as fans, but some of them are more obvious. Injury is a clear one, but I think injuries generally mean that players are playing in situations and combinations that they probably haven't had many reps in. Resulting in the wrong options being taken under pressure.

Based on last nights brain explosions, if we were being reactive we'd have to drop Barney for 2 pretty epic clangers. And we all know we're not dropping him
