Pick Your Team Raiders v Warriors - [Round 20, 2024]

I think we played pretty dam well considering no DWZ Monty or cnk who always get out sets off to a great start with there barn storming hitups.
Halasima in the centres and old plodder Capewell on the wing.
I will say our 5th tackle kicks were pretty dreadful at times.

Field goal specialist- how good would that have been if we could’ve rolled him out for golden point.
Worth it. CHT and TMM to start the match...SJ to come on with 30 minutes left.
With the current pattern of the NRL most tries get scored in the first half anyway (no stats to back that up though)
Let SJ be our closer. Let SJ also do all the goal kicking when he comes on. He is a champion goal kicker when the pressure is on.

Id be keen to see both Zyon Maiu’u and Halasima on the bench for our next game.

The absolute mongrel and X factor of a team with AFB, Niukore, Barney, Halasima and Zyon Maiu’u would be really fun to watch.

The only problem is both rookies would struggle to play more than 20-25 minutes at that high intensity so if injuries hit and they had to play 40+, I think we'd struggle big time.

Also - has anyone felt that Walker has been a wee bit off lately? While he's been good starting, I feel that energy off the bench he had last year has disappeared. I get it's a different role when he starts, and he's been shifted around the park a bit in the last few weeks but yeah, just missing that energy he was bringing last year

Zyon Maiu’u is injured I believe, hasn't played in weeks.

CNK needs a decent break
Bring in Tuapiki.

When’s Berry due back?
Need fresh legs.
Ali looks like he’s injured himself again?…
Pompey and RTS can step down
I knew Pompey was gonna botch that high ball which lead to Kikau scoring. Out jumped by a second rower. Embarrassing.

Vary that 30 minutes to somewhere between 40 and 10 minutes into the second half. Impact halfback?

Sounds out there, but would be pretty nuts for the opposition if our players could switch gears when he came on.

Would 100% stamp this if SJ rehabs well.
Well James other teams with three good halves play the third half on the bench and he comes on with 15 minutes left. In those other cases it is Schneider for Panthers or Sandon Smith for Penrith so a developing half coming on the field. SJ would be quite different in that he is an elite half coming on the field - it would be a mind screw for the other team to deal with.
I really like the idea. Prolongs SJ's career and we can ask him to step it up a notch and empty the tank while he is out there. He would be into it.

I don’t know why but this has never worked with aging stars being asked to take a bench role and come on late as impact player.

Regardless of your points, both Chanel and Te Maires long kicking games are poor and put a lot of pressure on our back 3 to make us yardage.
I think CHT long kicking game is pretty good
It was only really the second half where he took over the long kicking with 15 for 512m
Definitely not Burton but in contrast
Luai had 17 kicks for 496
Stats dont always tell the full story but watching the game he looked pretty good, can definitely improve but he's far better the Tmm

Sometimes the dribble coming out of your mouth is entertaining, but mostly you're just full of shit 🤣
Wow that is pretty impressive you can copy paste stats for handling errors.

Maybe next time you can put the same effort into watching the game, if you did you would of seen his shoddy kicks constantly gave away field position and 7 tackle set.

He also passed the ball into the crowd and I think he may of even missed touch on a penalty to go along with the errors you posted.

It's not his fault he just isn't up to the task and is doing the best he can as our 3rd string 5/8 however the point stands, you rag on SJ and the other forum whipping boys so hold your bum buddies to the same account

Benji at Souths was decent. I'm sure there was another big name but struggling to remember. The thing is someone's always injured so even tho that might be the case, SJ (if we did this) would still likely play 10+ games where he starts due to lack of players available. I think it could work

Benji was fine playing second fiddle to Walker and Reynolds.
I really doubt SJ will be fine playing second fiddle to TMM and CHT/Metcalf

Blake Green decided to jump ship rather than play second fiddle... he could have been useful in clutch situations for us back in the day..

Mate I literally responded to your incorrect dribble.

Just here to keep the shit talkers accountable. If you can read (debatable) you would see I've also commented how unhappy I was with Chanel, I just don't make up stats and bullshit like you do 😉

Thought the biggest reason we lost were the outside back 3 gone with 30+min to go, exposed the field goal weakness later, if even 2 of the 3 stayed on the field we win handily, even with clunky halves play which wasn’t helped by an out of sync backline. Not happy about playing CNK busted for 3 weeks until he is now almost gone for the season

With Capewell starting and Barnett coming of the bench in SOO. It’s a shame the game is on Friday night. So…….

1. Tuaupiki
2. DWZ
3. Pompey
4. Ali
5. RTS
6. CHT
7. TMM

8. AFB
9. Egan
10. Bunty
11. Ford
12. Niukore
13. Walker

14. Jazz
15. Halasima
16. Laban/Barnett
17. Lussick/Barnett

Selfishly, hopefully Barnett doesn’t get to much game time. Happy for him though.

I haven’t been so impressed with a young forward as I was with Leka Halasima since a young Jason Taumalolo. (Different type of player I know). That break out wide was insanely good. Hopefully he goes on to have a career like Jason. You can just see the raw talent, I want to give him as many minutes as we can this year. I’ve seen more from Leka in 35 mins than I have with Laban (who is also extremely talented and certainly worth developing).

If Tohu is ready that’ll change the bench a little.

With Barnett and Capewell out I’d go with Bunty due to experience.
