1) 2025 Souths are a tinny team. As the commentators point out they lose on the stats sheet but fluke wins anyway. Tinny tries off the back of intercepts or Aitken falling down into one of our players and earning a penalty.
2) That was peak career Latrell mitchell coming at us. At a certain point you need to just appreciate when a modern legend of the game like Tapine last week, or Latrell this week performs well.
3) Souths are well coached by Bennett. They had 3 to 4 top quality players and they let them make the plays. While the role players just did their job. Compare that to Tigers when they were winning their spoons, every Tigers player wanted the ball all the time regardless of whether the were a role player or not. Souths are a good scalp. They are 6 wins and 6 losses.
4) I thought DWZ played well. Amazing under the Gary Owens and great try. Average at wide edge defence but better than previous weeks, One bad loose carry that helped Souths come back at us but why were we spreading it wide on a set after points anyway. I hate it when we get expansive on a set after points. Just complete.

I saw them walk forwards a number of times quite blatantly, gaining quite a few metres in the process before playing the ball
Pretty standard for most defences tho isnt it who are always trying to push that line. Im sure an unbiased eye could pick out multiple times we did that as well. Particulary defenders out a bit wider, away from the scrutiny of being in the ruck. Would be nice to know the ruling of when is the exact moment a defender can start moving forward in a play the ball.

As mentioned in the Johnstone intercept the freeze frame showed he had a foot on the line when the ball was placed on the ground and was the moment he rushed forward. Clear penalty if he was supposed to wait for the dummyhalf to touch the ball but nobody can really clarify that rule it seems

Ford plugging another mid game injury and churning out 60mins.

This is why he was first picked on my bench pre season. No fuss, powers through his work, the motor to go the distance if necessary.

The type of player other players love to play with.
Yeah mate I watched him last night and man does he get through some clean up work which will never make his stats sheet but offers enormous value for the team

Yup he has been awesome… but I still am nervous as fuck each time he gets up to play the ball that he will drop it.. don’t know why… just am!

Crazy how spoiled people get. 3rd half way through the season is INSANE. PD is basically a season long equivalent to 1 draw game. We've made it insanely hard on ourselves for whatever reason, but every win we've been the better side. Even last week we were possibly the better side.

This is an incredible season. We lost Tohu/SJ last season then Walker mid season (plus monty who would be useful).

Any fan should be incredibly psyched with this season. We are so far ahead of schedule its mind boggling. Webby is getting incredible work out of a very middling team on paper.

If we can get even half as good as the dogs at recruitment we're on our way to a prem no doubt.
Haha I think it's just more that some of us, me included have a nervous energy and don't like to get too excited.

Rules question for @Ref or anyone who may know.

When are defenders allowed to move forward at a play the ball? In Touch Rugby its when the dummyhalf is in the act of picking up the ball, is it the same in League or is it when the ball carrier is in the act of rolling the ball with his foot, or when the ball is first placed on the ground?

In the Johnstone intercept which there were multiple calls of him being offside. The freeze frame showed at the time of the ball being placed on the ground to be rolled with the foot, Johnstone had one foot on the touch line (which i thought made him onside) and was when he started moving off the line.
With the ball being played only a metre or so from the line shortens the distance for the defence, so can become an easy intercept if a winger rushes straight into that passing lane between his opposite and the centre......which for an experienced winger like Johnstone he did (incidently if Luke had better periphials the chip in behind was on for all money with Johnstone being up so high) so the only question really is when is a defender allowed to move off the line, which ive never really known and judging by a lot of the comments from posters after an incident like this, not many do.
They cannot come within 10 metres until “the ball clears the ruck”

My heart can't take this. I don't know how we did it. We seemed to try everything to lose.

Does DWZ retain his spot? I don't know. He probably will but he seems to be a massive liability.
He did score a try in his customary style but let in two. This time less than his jamming in practice but the suburb passing skills of Latrell. The latter stands out above his peers with his extraordinary skills.

Good post Wrighty (y)

Can you imagine if Mitchell was in Our squad (goal kicker as well). I love ya Charnze but Hough, straight swap.
3) Souths are well coached by Bennett.
That try by Latrell was a Wayne Bennett special. We had no challenges left and they score by somebody, don't know who, taking out CNK. I'd expect that more from melb boltz tbh.

Anyone else noticing teams are getting really loose with markers. One standing close to the play the ball and the other hanging like 5 meters back. I have seen one guy called offside for doing it but I think they need to crackdown on it before it gets out of hand.

Another thing that’s starting to annoy me (the Raiders do it more than any other team) is having a player on the last tackle standing between the dummy half and half back so the delivery for the kick is a couple of seconds later as the hooker has to move into a position to pass the ball giving the opposition team more time to put pressure on the kicker.

Sounds like a Sticky tactic. These are similar to blockers and designed to slow the clearance of the kick. Needs to be refed better.
