I think my favourite part about this whole Metcalf situation is that he is screaming black and blue that he wants to play 7 and yet there's a huge contingent on commentators (not just you, Sup) that keeps wanting to put him in at 6.

Like, take the hint Luke.
Doubt he'll listen, his mind is a whirling twingle of numbers, shapes and patterns, like a rugby league Rain Man, probably not much room in there for outside noise.

Did Sky show the fox after match interview with Tmm? Tmm stated he’s not game fit yet and he d like 2/3 of his kicks back. So improvement coming there.
Cht did some good work in defence.
The Zesty boys some of made errors but it s year 2 for them
In fg
Jfh was impressive bulldozing it up the middle but numbers wise in metres Erin and Ford were similar.
We ve got to stop bringing name players in underdone unless we are out of options. Luke can get to match fitness in Cup. He had two games earlier and wasn’t great this year.
Pompey can come back in and be goal kicker - 100 per cent on his goal kicks in cup tonight
I was happy with our game and win I don’t know how much rain was coming down but conditions were ordinary.
Thanks Dal and Lofi for your individual effort tries.

Rain was steady most of the first half and trailed off towards the end.

Ruck was grubby. Injuries probably along with a new 7 rattled us a but I'd say. But we still fucked them.
Dragons last 2 weeks actually pit a lot if effort in , but yeah they're a rabble.
I hate what gutherson was doing with his playing at the ball in the ruck - it's legal i guess but barely, sits somewhere between a chicken wing and a strip - leka got done by it twice - was sorta pleased that Demi lost his challenge cos flanagan got a free shot by playing at the ball when he was being held on to - a good lesson maybe? did my head in how messy it all was, felt gross - oh well, up there for our worst performance of the season even compared to the two losses

Ive been in denial a little, but I think Leka's hit 2nd year syndrome.

Defence wise hes been solid this year, and I think to be fair hes been pushed to out to centre 2 or 3 times, but I think the shine has come off our new toy a wee bit.

He's had a few very poor dropped balls, and at times Ive felt the effort areas have been left wanting. Last week when Broncs scored down the right side he was really slow to react and left a 2 or 3 on 1. In 4 of the games this year hes run for less than 50 meters which is pretty diabolical.

Feels like a great time for Leka to freshen up and come off the bench for a few weeks imo. Simplify his game as i feel at times a lot of his errors are from him trying too hard.
I know just a young guy but I wasn’t a fan of the smiling away when making a mistake. Gutherson tried to unsettle him

I think this is the kind of the game i'd personally let wash out. Score looks good, but thats because the dragons are somehow playing below even last place. With a putrid attack, that bearly even punished our errors, injuries or just ill-displine in the ruck.

On the otherside, i think AKP, CHT, TSS, Healey, Taine and JFH (DWZ outside of the errors) all had a pretty great game.
AKP making some insane meters this game (getting close with DWZ but has a lot less runs on the board). Is showing that although he lacked in those effort areas while in the titans. He does not lack that here.
Healey looked awesome as soon as he came on, and reignited the game.
Taine, although diden't have any real highlights this game, his grunt work getting us out of our half has been fantastic.
TSS, pulling off a massive 47 min stint.
JFH with an even bigger 56.
And then ford played for the whole game.

Effort was shown. Which means they at least were never complacent. But fuck it was a dirty win.
Good summary. (Although Tane definitely had some highlights).

I can't add anything to that other than to say it is good to win these ugly ones.
Obviously if we had a goal kicker we would be way ahead.

Thank goodness the season is still on track.

Team naming Tuesday is gonna be interesting, a few injuries to account for and the Metcalf situation.

Pretty clear Metcalf has to come in.

Te Maire is a better playmaker than both he and Chanel.

I would put Metcalf at six and find a spot for Channel, even if it is that center, rather than demote him to 14.
Definitely shouldn't and won't move Chanel

I like him for impact off the bench but I think they’re trying to grow his motor to be a consistent 80 minute player?
That's what he could be. And the only to get that out of him is likely to flatten out his output to be less on ball. Make his carries. Make his tackles. Run his lines. Do his one per cent jobs.

At the moment he's a way off such a way of playing but it's not beyond him

Thought it was a trap game but satisfied with the W. Not convincing and was untidy at times but made the most of it. Most important is, loving the next man up and business as usual mentality of them this year though hope RTS and EIT get back up and running soon. 🤞 Onto Penrith! 👍

I think hell get there, mad to think he'll likely have 50 games before he turns 21, the blokes not even finished growing yet.
And to be fair to him I really dont think weve figured out how to use him. With all our big buys rolling through the middle im surprised were not getting him 1 on 1 or even 2 on 1 against a retreating defensive line. You give him good ball like that 8-10 times a game hell make something happen half the time imo.

He tends to stand still and try to step when we set him up, would be good if he runs on the ball like a proper centre
