One thing that grinds my gears is TT doing hit ups. Fair enough if we have a set where the forwards are struggling to get back or he see a broken line. But one time there play broke down so we got a 1st play on about the 40 and it was him taking first carry into the teeth. He is developing into a good FB but shouldn’t be taking those carries.
I think you may have answered your own concern. He just needs to be a foot taller and eat about fifty pies

Sure you are right.

I don't like it (Metcalf for CHT).

It just seems clear that we need some length in our kicking game and a better goal kicker (Metcalf isn't great but CHT isn't a goal kicker).

And I don't think we can afford to lose TMM's straightening of the attack, nor his passing game. His exploiting defenders that over read the play is better than Metcalf and CHT.

I hate Metcalf's defence but TMM somewhat mitigates the loss of CHT were we to go down that route.

I see there is a lot of push back. But I am just looking at the metrics rather than the players likeability, or what I think is fair vs unfair, I am only trying to solve a fundamental flaw in our game using three flawed options.
Whether it's

6. Chitty
7. TMM

Or

6. Chitty
7. Metcalf

I don't mind. But one thing this year that is thrashed by the team is reps. Luke is behind on that metric so I would be happy for him to be in Jersey 20 like Te Maire was last week. Sharp and ready.

Regarding the kicks give the boys a chance on dry track with more practice, towards the end was good and Ford chasing, TMM mentioned sharing kicks wasn’t good cuz you don’t tire out one edge, see if CHT can get it going with Cape chasing, or if they want to try berry on the left some time while roger is out

Seems we still have these games although lots of disruption with players injured and SOO. Not sure if we put the reps in for it but Taine as a third kicking option would be good. Fairly sure he was used for that in Cup last year.

We should be better for it next week as apart from injures will be the same unless Metcalf comes in. Not sure Metcalf will have enough reps but if he does he takes 7, CHT at 6 and TMM to the bench.

On a side note got to feel for the Dragons. They still have Gutherson, Flanagan and Holmes for next year. Flanagan is limited as a half and Gutherson and Holmes look like fringe NSW cup players.

Ive been in denial a little, but I think Leka's hit 2nd year syndrome.

Defence wise hes been solid this year, and I think to be fair hes been pushed to out to centre 2 or 3 times, but I think the shine has come off our new toy a wee bit.

He's had a few very poor dropped balls, and at times Ive felt the effort areas have been left wanting. Last week when Broncs scored down the right side he was really slow to react and left a 2 or 3 on 1. In 4 of the games this year hes run for less than 50 meters which is pretty diabolical.

Feels like a great time for Leka to freshen up and come off the bench for a few weeks imo. Simplify his game as i feel at times a lot of his errors are from him trying too hard.
