Yeah i didnt have any issue with it either.

I dont think it particulary changed the match's momentum in Penrith's favour either. It was a full 10 minutes until they scored again and in that time we shut them out in consecutive sets (thats when Ali made a couple of good tackles on their last) and it was also when we almost put the nail in the coffin with Laban being pulled down inches from their line by that amazing bloody Dylan Edwards tackle.

I think Fish has been the unsung hero all season tbh......hasnt been getting the plaudits of Ford or Erin Clark but he's just solid both sides of the ball and in no doubt is the pack alpha.

I think his leadership has been outstanding
If only we had RTS backing up rather than SLOW Pomps (and where the FK was AKP ?? having a picnic?)
hindsight that last tackle could have gone better for Laban maybe had he known he didn't have support and instead moved towards Edwards shoulder down ....

I'm in the " Pompey is the best we've got" camp. Rts injured and Berry (unfortunately) usually injured. Just leaves Charnze (injured), pushing a second rower out to centre or a debutant.
Marata similarly best available 4th bench with the origin players rested and EIT injured.

I like Pompey and how's stuck at his game and improved. He and Ford and CHT (from memory ) all had spells around the same season of really rough games for a losing team. Not everyone can physically do what the do let alone deal with the criticism.
Do we need to look at maybe a Linane debut sooner rather than later? I mean Pompey and Ali are probably the best we have currently, Berry I have little faith in and don't actually think he is an improvement on these two, and there is likely to be an injury or suspension at some point that we need covered. Just wonder if it's better to get a debut out of the way prior to the big games at the end of the season and maybe he excels creating another headache for Webster?

He’s basically playing at his peak minus that beast offload (23 vs baby broncos), shocked to see he ran 177m, tripling his norm

Yeah that was a missed oppertunity to ice it for sure......both we're a mile behind the play

They had both done hit ups earlier in that set and did look gassed after and i dont think we're expecting Te Maire to step back and run it on the last.....but geez boys talk about owning the moments in a game.....there was one there for either of them if they had just stayed connected with the play and pushed up with Laban

So in total we left what at least 6 tries out there??

1. Ali offside
2. CHT forward pass
3. The Egan one someone mentioned...?
4. Ford pinky finger knock on
5. Laban on end of the break
6. TT flick pass too late

7. Pompey not to AKP the play before TT?

I think dogs beat them by going side to side as well. Penrith the best defensive team so that final timing on their scramble is needed to beat them

DWZ's finishing has been great this year but I don't see him scoring there personally. TT hasn't even got the ball in this frame and McLean is already chasing out and the Panther winger holds out the whole time.

TMM who usually reads shoulders really well should've played short to Ali as McLean never turned shoulders in enough.

Even could've dummied and a had a go as he'd beaten 4 man.

Casey’s actually fooled and did an Ali turning in to help the half, you can see the hole in front of TT as a result, play it live he was scrambling he’s got big steps, TT probably needed to double pump or release sooner he did get milky to turn in, or stand a bit wider closer to milky dallin sneaks through too. The last 1% to beat the final boss lol

We'll have to agree to disagree here.

McLean never turns in for mine. He stays square and releases. First frame is the most his shoulders ever turn in and he's still hips square north/south. Definitely hasn't jammed in or done an Ali and overcommit to the lead at all.

By the second frame here they're already man on 2v2 and McLean covers comfortably with his speed and length. Panthers winger is actually wider than DWZ and corner profiling to boot.

Anyway, enough of my high horse about shithousery, key moments analysis incoming...

Late Laban play - diabolical from Pompey here, unforgivable really, 3 shifts back towards you and you still can't get yourself in the play. Tut tut

- Ball has just been given inside to Fish - full lineup to the left

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.43.29.webp

Fish to Clark - Pompey already given up on the play

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.43.56.webp

Clark to CHT, Cht to Laban - Pompey "shit I should be there"

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.44.08.webp

Laban looking for support, no one there. Just not good enough

Late raid down the left, perfect shape.

AKP was on League Lounge with SJ, this is the exact shape they were discussing, this gives AKP the most room to be released.

CHT has just received the ball and SJs analysis is that CHT will have called AKP to be in tight

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.50.14.webp

CHT with a decision to make, I think he should have fired it straight to AKP, He has put him away a number of times in this formation with the cutout

- AKP receiving the ball here is a sprint to the corner, he surely gases Alamoti

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.50.45.webp

Ball goes to Pompey - Pompey does not even look to pass, straight into a tuck, maybe looking for a flick? RTS was shovelling these on immediately.

Very disappointing to see the play breakdown here, AKP must receive this ball

Man we had that…release it a split second earlier and Dallin breaks the club record too

I see someone has run this already, I agree that this was expertly shutdown by Mclean and Jenkins.

I think on 4th tackle here, short to Ali would have been the play, maybe he is through, maybe not.

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.57.37.webp

The shape does not fool Mclean who instantly turns out to Taine once the ball is not going to Ali

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.58.11.webp

Taine receives the ball but is heading far too sideways for my liking and is even if he gives the ball straight to DWZ, it look well covered by Jenkins, I don't think Jenkins is beaten on the outside here.

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.58.26.webp

Taine running sideways is a very easy target for Mclean who shuts him down flawlessly, Jenkins in perfect position to react to what Taine does

If Taine gives the ball here I still think McLean makes a play on DWZ

Screenshot 2026-06-01 at 13.58.36.webp

Taine tucks and Jenkins jams him hard forcing the error
