That was the highest quality NRL game of the season. Its not often you get one so even both teams get confidence out of it no matter the result.
The bar has been set.
Only a few teams have shown glimpses of being at that level so far this year.
Cowboys?
Roosters?
Have to keep the mojo going over the bye, lots to be happy with and plenty of time to practice work-ons, but the Sharks will be another test of the consistency. Can we blow them away with that level of intensity? Can we replicate it?
Looking forward to getting the rub of the green at home over the next couple of games.
Up The Wahs.
Enjoy your Monday off.

Why are people hating on Pompey. He was alright. In my opinion we lost because we bombed our tries & our attack looked clunky. CHT had an easy pass to get us add & ran. Happened twice from memory. Tuaupiki bombed a loose ball. Ref didn’t help. On a different day we win. To loose our half back mid season & still look good, we should be proud.
No one is hating on Pompey, but the average ability of the players around him is increasing which is exposing him more and more.

Our young forwards were good. I can see us in a big game bullying a side or running over the top of a side similar to what the Broncos did to us in the 2023 final.

Young guys, getting stronger, big motors.

Can see us being comfortable getting into the grind with some big sides later in the year.

At times we also had some sting in defence. Had them in their 20 and made them work for their metres.

Just bring Linnane in when he’s ready, maybe another month then 10 games to gel with akp? coincidentally he’s playing left centre. Berry sounds like he came off wounded today
Linnane isn't a center to me though. He's playing there right now but he's a spine player. Defending well but i think teams in first grade would expose his lack of size out wide.

Are you sure Berry was injured? I thought minutes restriction and to get Lemana in the game? But i may have missed it.

Flew over from the US to watch this one live. Despite the loss, it was well worth it. 16-6 at half time I thought was a poor reflection of the game. We were the better side for larger portions of that first half. But we lost the little moments: i) Ali not timing his run to be on side and ii) CHT getting the timing of the pass wrong leading to it being forward. We ice those, and we could have easily been up 16-6. Not to mention the BS call against Ford: no way he touched that!

On any other day, each of these things go our way and we go on to win that game. But either way I don't think this loss impacts our situation at all. As I see it, this game was basically house money anyway: with the favorable results this week, we were still guaranteed to be outright 2nd no matter what happened. The minor prem might be a bit tough now, but top 2 is all we need for 2 home finals.

Onwards and upwards. We've only lost a battle against these guys: the war has just begun. Can't wait for rd 23 when they come to MSS.

As always, Up the Wahs!

They will be tougher in round 23 with all of their stars back.

hopefully, we are still playing like this coming into that game. It will be a good test to see if we have improved or can back this effort up.

Lets hope this is the loss before we take over as the top side. Like a changing of the guard. ;) It could happen due to their players wanting to test the market.

Nice to see Jacko firing up in the scuffle with Fish, he’s usually quite nonchalant but I’ve noticed him the last few games throwing his weight around….good shit Jacko, keep banking that and spend it all when our time comes
